🎆 Fireworks Season is Here – Keep Your Pets Safe! 🐾

PARKES ADVICE OF DISPLAY BELOW IN PICTURE.

Loud noises from fireworks can be stressful for our furry friends. Here are some tips to keep them calm and secure:

1️⃣ Create a Safe Space: Set up a cozy, quiet spot indoors where your pets can feel secure.
2️⃣ Keep Them Indoors: Avoid taking pets outside during fireworks displays.
3️⃣ Use Soothing Sounds: Play calming music or white noise to mask the sound.
4️⃣ Stay Close: Comfort your pets and ensure they feel safe with you around.
5️⃣ Secure Windows & Doors: Prevent escape attempts by keeping entryways closed.

Spread the word and help protect our beloved animals! 🐶🐱💖

🎄🚗 **Christmas Driving Safety Message** 🚗🎄

As we gather to celebrate this joyous season, let's remember that the road to the holidays should be filled with warmth, laughter, and safety.

**Here are some important reminders to ensure you arrive home alive:**

**Stay Sober:** If you plan to drink, please arrange for a designated driver or use rideshare services. There’s no gift greater than arriving home safely.

**Buckle Up:** Always wear your seatbelt and ensure all passengers do the same. It’s the simplest way to protect yourself and your loved ones.

**Plan Your Route:** Avoid distractions by having a clear plan. Share your route with someone and adhere to GPS directions instead of texting while driving.

**Mind the Road:** With holiday gatherings, expect increased traffic. Stay alert, obey speed limits, and keep a safe distance from other vehicles.

**Be Patient and Kind:** The holiday season can be stressful. Take a deep breath, practice kindness on the road, and remember we are all traveling home for the same reason—celebrating together.

This Christmas, let’s embrace the spirit of the season with care and responsibility. Drive safe, stay focused, and always prioritize getting home to your loved ones.

Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a safe journey! 🎅🌟

Weather Situation: A moist and unstable airmass is combining with multiple surface troughs to produce severe thunderstorms across various parts of the State.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Parkes, Condobolin, Young, West Wyalong, Cootamundra and Junee.

Mount Ginini has recorded 25 mm in 19 minutes to 9:13 pm

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.
* Keep at least 8 metres away from fallen power lines or objects that may be energised, such as fences.
* Report fallen power lines to either Ausgrid (131 388), Endeavour Energy (131 003), Essential Energy (132 080) or Evoenergy (131 093) as shown on your power bill.
* Trees that have been damaged by fire are likely to be more unstable and more likely to fall.
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
* Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water.
* If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue.
* Be aware that run-off from rainfall in fire affected areas may behave differently and be more rapid. It may also contain debris such as ash, soil, trees and rocks.
* After bushfires, heavy rain and the loss of foliage can make the ground soft and heavy, leading to a greater chance of landslides.
* Unplug computers and appliances.
* Avoid using the phone during the storm.
* Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well.
* Stay vigilant and monitor conditions. Note that the landscape may have changed following bushfires.
* For emergency help in floods and storms, ring the SES (NSW and ACT) on 132 500.

The next warning is due to be issued by 1:15 am Saturday.

Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 210. The Bureau and State Emergency Service would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.
