Yesterday, Monday May 13th, we gathered at Hamer Hall in Melbourne to celebrate, remember and pay tribute to friend, mate, boss and mentor Harold Mitchell AC. On Harold’s 82nd birthday, it was a day where so many came together - Harold’s family and friends, those in media, advertising, the arts, defence, entertainment, politics, government, sports, farming, and Australian, Aboriginal and Timorese communities.
Harold started with nothing in life, but was hard working, fierce, determined, kind, thoughtful and extremely generous. He helped many, many people, from all walks of life, over his journey, near and far, within Australia and all over the world - where his legacy will live on and continue to benefit generations for years to come.
Harold lived large and shared his self-built wealth with those less fortunate, while also looking after ‘his people’. We will continue to take a leaf out of Harold’s book, in our personal and professional lives.
Harold’s State Memorial was a beautiful, emotional and celebratory service. Much love and thoughts to Stuart, Jordan and the Mitchell family and friends, and those that played a role in yesterday being so lovely, albeit so very sad.
Founder and Managing Director of Swifty Media Nick Swifte was humbled and honoured to take the stage along with former Mitchell’s Managing Director Allen Scash (Scashy), to share some fond memories of the Mitchell & Partners days in York Street, South Melbourne - and even managed to extract a few heart-felt laughs in true Swifty-style.
If you have some time to spare, we encourage you to find a quiet space and watch the recording of Monday’s service, to learn about Harold, witness some wonderful tributes, perhaps take something away for yourself, and hear some truly beautiful music via this link https://lnkd.in/gEmDYh_Q
Vale and Thank You, Harold.
Love, The Swiftes.
