RESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES ALONG THE COLO RIVER STAY INFORMED

The NSW SES advises people in the Colo River Valley to stay informed about predicted possible MODERATE flooding on the Colo River.

You should stay informed by monitoring warnings issued by NSW SES on their website and page, listening to your local ABC radio station, and checking the latest weather information from the Bureau of Meteorology online.

WHAT ARE WE EXPECTING?
The Bureau of Meteorology advises multiple troughs will bring heavy rain and thunderstorms to much of NSW from Wednesday through to the weekend. This will cause renewed flooding over inland NSW and Hunter and Greater Sydney districts.

Coastal catchments in the Hunter and Greater Sydney districts including the Hawkesbury Nepean will see minor to moderate flooding from Saturday.

Catchments are very wet and most dams are at or near capacity.

The weather system may cause flooding for the coastal catchments from the weekend.

Based on predictions from the Bureau of Meteorology, low-lying areas along the Colo River may be impacted by floodwater.

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO?
Consider the consequences of road and bridge closures and water over roads and make alternate arrangements for work, children, and travel.

Prepare for possible isolation, ensuring you have enough food, beverages, medications, pet and stock feed, and fuel for generators.

Farmers should consider moving pumps and farm equipment to higher ground.

Share this information with family, friends, and neighbours and help others prepare where possible.

Farmers should consider moving pumps and farm equipment to higher ground.

People in areas likely to be impacted by flooding should raise their assets, including waste and chemical containers above expected flood heights.

Obey all signs about road closures and instructions from emergency services.

Never drive, walk, ride through, play or swim in flood water - it is dangerous, toxic, and may void your car insurance. If it's flooded, forget. Fines may apply.

Avoid storm drains and pipes, ditches, ravines, creeks, and rivers.

Share this information with family, friends, and neighbours and help others prepare where possible.
