Trickivic's Thursday Country 2NVR-Fm 105.9

Trickivic's Thursday Country 2NVR-Fm 105.9 Winner Tamworth M & G 2012 Most Popular Country Music Presenter. On Thursday Country 4-6pm.....on A Vicki still loves listening to Sammy even NOW!

At an early age, Vicki Melouney — AKA Trickivic — learnt to appreciate all styles of music since her mother always played any style of music that suited the mood of the moment. Trickivic's grandfather was a jazz musician who'd raised his daughters with that very outlook, and he had ensured that the trio sang on radio with his music mates while they were still young...

Some of Vicki's fondest mem

ories include being woken up first thing in the morning to the radio blaring and listening to Gary O'Callaghan & Sammy Sparrow. Vicki had the pleasure of meeting this golden voice of radio last year when she visited Nic (Gary's son) at the studio's of 2MC-FM in Port Macquarie. They talked about the old 2UE days (whose studio used to be across the road from Tickivic's home), and her listening to Sammy Sparrow just before she left to go to school each morning. During this meeting Gary decided to do a show promo for Vicki's show — and radio pointer for 2NVR. Image

Trickivic's other fond memories are those of participating in School Eisteddfod's, School & Church Choirs, and getting involved in school plays (in the music section and behind the scenes). On leaving school she enrolled in TAFE to do a receptionist's course at her mother's request. She did this under sufference, but found it had advantages because on Thursday & Friday afternoons she could sneak into the local pubs to watch bands do their soundchecks before their nightly gigs. This was when Trickivic first decided to get further involved. At the completion of her TAFE course Vicki signed up to do a Theatre arts Course With the PACT theatre company in Sydney — where she learnt all aspects of music, theatre, acting, dance, and the production involved behind the scenes. During this time Trickivic had the opportunity to audition for the Musical "CATS", and made it through the first two very strenuous (cat-like) sessions, only missing the final audition due to a communication breakdown between the organisers & her theatre management. One consolation was that she got to meet Debbie Byrne and a very young Jason Coleman. Vicki was reassured that getting that far in a first audition was a great feat in itself. Undeterred, Trickivic went on to do an advertisment for TDK, Australian Wool Company, and featured behind the scenes in others ads such as JJ's Jeans (where she also sang the theme song!!), Arnotts biscuits, Royal Eatser show...

Trickivick was also a regular extra on TV in "Sons & Daughters"...but mostly "A Country Practice", since this was filmed in her local area & at her own home. If you watched this show and remember Vicki the Vet delivering a foal then the arms and hands doing "the dirty work!!" were actually Vicki. She also used to do many of the horseriding scenes for the actors who couldn't ride. Image

At this time Vicki's friend Sally started working for "The Delltones" as an assistant manager & the opportunity to go on the road and sell merchandise came up — along with the option to appear in a couple of the filmclips too. Sally's brother was also in the music game, and the opportunity to hang out with QED and Noiseworks was also a regular thing, as well as seeing other music mates perform in such club cover bands as Savannah or Transit.. Trickivic would also jump at the opportunity to get on stage to sing backing vocals for any bands. Over time, Vicki's circle of music mates became bigger, and included Waa Waa Nee, Black Sorrows, Australian Crawl, INXS — and the list goes on...

Trickivic eventually married, and things settled down for a few years with raising kids — BUT if the opportunity arose to work with a visiting band doing merchandise she would jump at it. When the opening came up to join the team at 2NVR-FM, Vicki thought she could give that a go. She hasn't looked back, and enjoys every minute of spinning music and presenting indie country music on a Thursday ...Trickivic is also now renewing old music friendships and starting new ones ... and is enjoying the friendships with many of the country music family ...

She has been a regular MC for the ICMA Awards in Tamworth for the last 6 yrs as well a nominee in their Radio Presenter Category and Photographer category ... also while in Tamworth she had been a Presenter on Festival FM as well as MC on the Toyota Fanzone Stage and a Photographer for The Tamworth Council during the Annual festival ...
