Electric boost

Mosman Council is adding more electric vehicles (EVs) to its fleet.

It follows Mosman’s success in obtaining a $66,000 grant under the NSW Government’s EV fleets incentive ‘Kick-start funding’ program.

The initiative helps eligible organisations procure battery electric vehicles and optional smart chargers. Funding is designed to cover part of the purchase price and operating cost gap between a battery electric vehicle and an equivalent internal combustion engine vehicle.

The project will help progressively build Council’s green fleet, which already includes an electric vehicle.

Traffic Alert: Spit Bridge Closed

As at 7:53am Monday 24 Feb

The Spit Bridge has two of three southbound lanes closed after a crash between a truck and a car this morning. Emergency services are working to free a person trapped in one of the vehicles.

Motorists are advised to expect delays and use other routes if possible.

Mosman’s annual International Women’s Day breakfast is traditionally a sell-out event, and this year is shaping up to be just as popular with sports journalist and presenter Tara Rushton as the special guest.

Mosman local Rushton will share insights to her experiences and achievements in the traditionally male-dominated world of sports broadcasting at the event on Friday 7 March at Mosman Art Gallery. Bookings are essential via: trybooking.com/1333643.

Mosman Council has hosted events for many years on or close to International Women’s Day, with past guests including Australian Banking Association Chief Executive Officer and former Queensland Premier Anna Bligh; the former Governor of NSW Dame Marie Bashir; and television food presenter and author Maeve O’Meara.

Schools Help Clean up Australia (starting with Balmoral)

A Mosman education and environment event will be a key feature in a program celebrating 35 years of Clean Up Australia Day.

The schools beach clean-up at Balmoral will involve primary and secondary students in an initiative hosted by Council, Clean Up Australia and Green Schools Collective.

The Collective brings schools together in local areas to connect and collaborate on climate change issues and sustainability.

Since Clean Up Australia’s inception in 1990, more 22 million Australians have registered as a volunteer for activities within their local community year-round.

Last year’s Clean Up Australia Day campaign collected an estimated 140,000 bags of litter.

In 2025, a Schools Clean Up Day will take place on Friday 28 February, with the broader community Clean Up Australia Day on Sunday 2 March: cleanup.org.au.

Mark the calendar – the dates have been set for the next Festival of Mosman, to be held from 23 October to 2 November 2025.

The program will feature a range of popular events including Pet's Day Out, Dinner on the Green, Mosman Street Party, a Community Fair at Headland Park, Children's Fair, OctoberFeast Night Market, an open-air cinema, exhibitions and other community activities.

Local community groups, organisations and businesses will also be invited to take part through running and hosting events as part of the festival program.

The festival celebrates Mosman’s community, environment, culture, heritage and village atmosphere and is held every two years.

Event registration and sponsorship expressions of interest will open closer to the festival. For enquiries email [email protected].
