💥 Breaking the Silence: Systemic Gaslighting in Insurance Claims 💥

🧐Over the Christmas and New Years festive season, Producers dug deep into the root causes behind the constant frustration and disempowerment of those who are injured and dealing with insurance claims. The constant shut-downs, strange letters, and Independent Medical Examiners (IMEs) that feel like character assassinations are not only demoralizing but distort people’s reality. This gaslighting is something insurers deal with daily, but it's not only harmful to those affected—it impacts employees and the entire system.

💡The solution? Transparency and listening. We explore this issue in the episode of —"The Punishment of Money"—featuring insights from incredible experts that is set to shock viewers. Producers truly hope it resonates with all those affected, stakeholders and drives change.

💪 Empowering people to recover is the key to a healthier, more effective system. The system will invariably catch up and realise if you empower people, stop what is actually gaslighting and let them get well they will quickly want to return to work. It's hard enough being severely injured without this sort of thing going on.

Say hello to our star-in-the-making, Jackson! While he's not exactly a Hollywood debutante, he’s about to make his on-screen debut in the Shattered DocuSeries — and we couldn’t be more excited! 🎬

In one of the episodes, Jackson is seen alongside Tina, one of the five incredible women who join Kathie to share their personal stories and lived experiences. Tina’s journey through the trauma of Institutional Systems Abuse from the Workers Compensation System has been incredibly difficult, and Jackson’s companionship has been a constant source of comfort and support throughout it all. 🐶❤️

There’s something so special about the bond between humans and their pets, especially during times of immense hardship. Jackson offers Tina a sense of peace as she bravely shares her truth, and we’re honored to witness that connection.

🚨 When Protections Fail: A Critical Look at Conciliation Room Safety 🚨

In our groundbreaking Shattered DocuSeries, Kathie's harrowing experience shows how Institutional failures can compound trauma and empower perpetrators. Her story isn’t just a lapse in judgment—it’s a systemic failure that turned her quest for justice into more harm and she is not alone in this experience.

🔍 A System's Catastrophic Failure
At the Australian Human Rights Commission (AHRC), a fundamental betrayal took place. Forced into the same room as her alleged perpetrator, this wasn’t just a mistake—it was a catastrophic failure of care. Her physical collapse was her body reacting to this betrayal.

💔 Compounding Trauma Through Administrative Violence
Instead of owning their mistake, the Commission doubled down. They suggested she file another complaint. This “solution” made her appear vexatious, creating a paper trail to be weaponized against her. Her trauma was dismissed, and her struggle worsened.

⚖️ The Weaponization of Administrative Failure
The most disturbing part? The Commission’s failure gave ammunition to the perpetrator’s employer. What was meant to protect her, became a tool to undermine her credibility and silence her.

🔄 The Cost of Institutional Pride
When systems defend themselves instead of facing their failures, the harm multiplies. Victims are retraumatized, perpetrators are empowered, and public trust is shattered. Her story demands action. We need systems that protect, heal, and own their mistakes. Only then can we restore trust and bring true justice.

🌟 Purposeful Passion Can Transform Lives! 🌟

Five years ago, Executive Producer Kathie Melocco and Advocacy Producer Ballina Gee never imagined they’d become Documentary Film Makers. Both distinguished leaders and influencers in their professional fields, they had crossed paths in their career but never in the world of filmmaking.

That all changed when their lived experience and shared passion for exposing Institutional Systems Abuse brought them together with a common purpose. Through their collaboration, they launched GIDII Advocacy — Gender Injury Discrimination in Industry. Kathie recalls one transformative conversation, where she shared her vision of making a documentary to expose the truth. Ballina’s response? “I believe in you and want to be part of this.”

What followed was nothing short of extraordinary. Together, they committed to learning everything they needed to create true impact that would not only raise awareness but also ignite change. Kathie’s unwavering faith as a Chaplain and drive for excellence coupled with Ballina’s relentless commitment meant they were unstoppable — determined to shine a light on a critical issue and demand accountability from all responsible entities.

Before we release the first episode of the documentary, we felt strongly to launch the Moral Injuru Training and Discussion guides to set the scene and context for the whole series.

We showed the main string out cut during the State Insurance Regulatory Authorities internal investigation who are reviewing their complaints system. Let it be known, the truth of exposing systems abuse within the insurance industry, government and authority bodies were communicated authentically.

The material will be launched at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Samoa this week.
