I know she is still with me everywhere i go....

In 2018 my dad's mom passed from this earth. It was time for her to enter a new life. Eternal Life. She was 94.

Maria was her name. The first time i met my Babcia as older boy was in 2004. As i grew up quiet timid, quiet, scared and lacked so much confidence within myself, i still tried to stay close to that which gave me some sort of purpose.

For me that was my culture, my polish heritage, it was my polish school friends who i met every saturday which my mom used to force us to go to even though i fuxken hated it.

I am grateful though as i can speak the language now.

As we grow up, ive learnt that there is one thing that we try to find.... and that one thing is a sense of belonging and community.

We want to fit in and be accepted. We want to be part of something bigger then ourselves.

For me growing up, even though i was born in Australia, i didnt feel Australian, and no one wanted to be australian. It wasnt cool to be australian. Australians, got picked on, and called aussies or skips.

Growing up in the inner west of Sydney was full of Italians, Greeks, Yugoslavs, Polish, Lebanese and all types of Asian. So being an Aussie was seen as a bad thing.

I think about it and find it quiet sad that this was the mentality.

I was a wog and i wanted to be labelled as that cause i wanted to fit in with all the ethnics and europeans. I wanted to be a part of them, they were cool, i wanted to be cool.

When my grandmother passed in 2018 it changed me, i felt so close to Poland at that time and i wasnt living in my purpose, i was drinking heaps, using a lot of co***ne and other drugs and was going no where fast.

When i came back to Sydney from the funeral i believe her spirit came back with me to wake me up and say "Lukasz" "You are better than this" "The time has come for you to wake up to your greatness"

From this moment on i made one decision to move to Poland which never happened but it sent me on a journey of self love, self discover and massive change.

I didnt love myself and i was just in and out of toxic unhealthy relationships, some which i took advantage of just for the s*x and others which i just settled for cause i didnt want to be the only single guy in my group of friends.

I made mistakes, but since i learnt to love myself, ive been able to forgive myself, and respect myself more.

As the saying goes, treat other people the same way you would like to be treated.

I now know that when you learn to love yourself, you'll love the whole world.

I am passionate about self love and the power of it, and because of my grandmother passing, it has sent me on this new found journey to save myself and then teach others to do the same.
