A significant political crisis in Bangladesh has begun to unfold.
- Chief Advisor Dr. Younus, in an interview with the Indian newspaper “The Hindu”, stated that the BNP, currently the most popular party, wants the Awami League (the party led by Hasina, which has blood on its hands for killing students) to participate in the upcoming elections. This statement has ignited widespread disappointment and anger among students across the country, many of whom are still grappling with the trauma of the July massacre that left tens of thousands injured and thousands of martyrs and their families affected. The entire nation is outraged by the BNP’s stance, especially given its own history of suffering under Awami oppression.
- Student representatives on social media are calling for the revival of the Unfinished Revolution for anyone who seeks to reconcile with the killers, namely the Awami League and their supporters, as the BNP appears to be seeking to rehabilitate the Awami League in politics.
- One student representative, who is part of the current government, explained that they are facing challenges from the bureaucracy in making administrative changes. They are not receiving adequate cooperation from bureaucrats. This situation worsened when another student representative was sued by the Chief Advisor's office for alleged “corruption links” without any evidence.
- Jamaat-e-Islami, the largest Islamic group in Bangladesh, has found itself in turmoil after its Ameer, in a recent talk in the UK, expressed his desire to avoid the term “fascist” and stated that he “forgave” the Awami League and others, considering them as part of his “family.” This statement caused significant outrage even among Jamaat supporters, as over the past 15 years of Awami rule, Jamaat has been the primary target of extrajudicial treatment, torture, and various forms of oppression.
