Sextortion without the s*x. It's a brave new world. Personally, I am super excited about the potential of what can and will be achieved through the digital extension of ourselves, . As with all paradigm-shifting technology, it is a double-edged sword and, like hacking, it is the intent and application of those skills and techniques that define it as good or bad. This is an awareness post about the bad.

If you work blueteam at all you would be familiar with the frantic call from a client about the email or sms they have just received from a random someone, who has hacked their computer and has intimate footage of the victim in the throws of some serious "Me Time". Obviously, the attackers have nothing and these attempts usually end up with the email blocked, or if it's a slow day, a little btc wallet osint (some attackers ain't real bright). This unfortunately is no longer the case. Recently Twitter had to block searches for Taylor Swift as fake naked images began appearing across the platform and it's believed the platform below or one of the many copycats like it may be responsible for the images.

The site is able to take an image and through the use of AI create a naked version of the subject. Clones of the original site have gone a step further and can generate hardcore pornographic stills and videos of the subject. Not some feeble faceswap app quality but indistinguishable fakes, for free, in a single click.

Those s*xtortion emails just got a little more serious. Now an attacker can pull an image of anyone, from almost anywhere and create fake blackmail assets. How does one even respond to that? Worse still what do you tell a client, who relies on you to advise them on security issues, who is facing such a scenario? To be honest, I don't know. The potential harm to reputation can be just as great with these fakes but capitulating to a ransom is definitely not the solution.

We are at the dawn of a new era of unknown wonder and previously unforeseen threats. The ethical application of AI technologies is a must but that's a no-brainer. hashtag and hashtag professionals have a tough time ahead with previously secure technologies becoming obsolete almost overnight. Spreading awareness, not fear is a must. Sow wonder not worry, because that old adage is true: You reap what you sow.

Place Invader

Things have been pretty quiet across all of our accounts of late. Motivation has been hard to come by and the dream killer, doubt, had tainted our foolhardy optimism.

But constant yet gentle persuasion for my number 1 and a few wise words from my favorite Scot galvanized what we have known all along. Our only limitaions are the ones we put on ourselves. So to hell with the status quo, I’ve always emjoyed the beat of our own drum more.

And the home of those infectious beats, an event concept we like to call Place Invader. Not a slave to any one gerne. Not defined by one single sound or artist but the sum of its parts. An outlet for artists, both established and emerging to do exactly what it is that they love to do, surrounded by like minded creatives doing the same. Pushing skills to the limit and nurturing the creativity spirit.

As an immersive audio visual experience, the visual aesthetic of the event is as important as the sonic experience and like the djs & live acts, Vjs and install artists are encouraged to innovate and push the boundaries of their craft.
