Will you vote for me?
Finalist in the Queensland State Community Hero Awards 2019
This is a wonderful accolade for the many many hours of volunteerism. Nominated for my work with Tewantin Noosa Parkinson's Support Group and those living with Parkinson's Disease on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland Australia. This is my passion and working with the most amazing group of people afflicted by this confronting, chronic, debilitating and progressive disease is awe-inspiring every day. However, the truly frightening thing it is on the increase and for Younger Onset Diagnosis. If you know some-one with Parkinson's please encourage them to plug into a local Support Group and do not try to go this path alone, it is truly frightening and one needs Connection and Community and Conversation. Best outcome: a cure for Parkinson's Disease and a much better way forward for those first diagnosed than being handed addictive medication and more funding both for complementary therapies and allied health therapies now! Please take the time to vote for me in the People's Choice vote only open now until Monday 25th November at midnight. Follow this link, then look for my photo https://awardsaustralia.app.do/qldcaa19

The People's Choice Award celebrates and raises awareness of the Finalists' achievements. Vote each day for your favourite Finalist - the one who receives the most will be recognised at the Awards Gala Presentation Dinner!

Today Sunday 25th was a profoundly moving day as the funeral of one of The Sing Thing choir members was held. Those who knew Mirte Craig will remember a larger-than-life character who emanated joy and robust life energy. Mirte died on Saturday 17th August with her 2 sons around her, talking to you, sharing family messages and caressing her. Her funeral today was a real celebration of an amazing life. Vale, Mirte Maja Craig Mirte Craig born 19/6/42 - 17/8/19. At every tribute and beyond family there were 13, her long journey with Parkinson's was noted as was her great courage, fortitude and will to persevere. I shared a tribute to Mirte from the Tewantin Noosa Parkinson's Support Group. The people who contacted me, unable to attend used words like daring, outspoken, inspiring and fiesty - all fitting accolades to a lady who on August 15th, just 2 days before she died, rose up at The Sing Thing Choir afternoon and sang for us her offering on a theme song. Sarah, Kath and I seem to remember the tune might have been, 'You are my Sunshine".

Derek now 80 years of age, would like to break the standing Powerlift record for that age group. He has decided to compete in all 3 stages of the Powerlifting category as well. The funds raised here will go directly to Derek and his trainer to be used for their travel to Cairns for the competit...

This is one of Derek's lifts that broke the existing title. It is a bit difficult to see but Derek is the one making his wy to the bench and once the helper has set him up, Derek then lifts the bar and sustains the hold for the designated period of time and kabom! He has broken another record.
