New: 2024 Nissan Z NISMO

Good news for Nissan lovers as they've confirmed the initial 100 allocations for the much anticipated NISMO edition of the 400Z. This hot, uncompromising track edition will begin from $95000 and sports 11Kw/45nm more power from the 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6, along with stiffer suspension for particularly spirited driving.

Final output now stands at 309kw and 510nm of torque thanks to the introduction of a new electronic waste gate system, which ups the boost. Whilst not the original headline figure announced of 313kw/521nm, you'd be hard pressed to notice. Especially with the 9-speed auto transmission, which is the only box available for the NISMO.

Suspension, as previously mentioned, has also enjoyed a looking over. Dampers, springs, anti-roll bars, and chassis have all been reinforced and up rated. To complement the suspension upgrades, NISMO has uprated the brakes to bigger 380 mm discs up front and 350 mm in the rear.

Visual improvements have been made to finish the NISMO transformation both inside and outside. Fans are already waiting eagerly as the first 100 batch of cars destined for Oz have been sold. More cars are headed our way with Nissan yet to confirm the new date.

What are your thoughts on the new Z Nismo? Does it live to the NISMO hype?

New: 24' Aston Martin DB12

The new DB12 is quite possibly the most important car Aston Martin has made in recent history. It has the unenviable task of setting the British marque on its new pathway, away from the tried and tested V12 for which customers have become well accustomed to.

The headline feature of the new DB12 is its AMG heart. The 4-litre hot V twin-turbo V8, which churns out 500kw/800nm of torque through an 8-speed auto box straight to the rear wheels. 3.6 seconds to 100km/h and onto 325km/h. To help put all this newfound, grunt down to the pavement, Aston has proudly introduced a new electronic differential and updated adaptive suspension with 5 driving modes to help drivers get the most from what Aston is calling their "statement car".

Also worth a mention is the completely redesigned interior. A sore point for quite a few people was how quickly dated the interior of the old DB11 was, citing its inability to integrate phone control and GPS successfully, among other things. Now, Aston's designed a brand new interface that brings Aston right up to par with the technology offered by competitors within its market.

Beautiful swooping lines, a mix of Vantage and DBS, make the new DB12 greatly sought after. Australian allocations are yet to be determined, but deliveries internationally are scheduled for late 23'.

What are your thoughts on the new DB12?
Are you sad about the loss of V12?

New: 2023 Lamborghini Revuelto

In the words of Gough Whitlam, "It's time!." It's time everybody for a new flagship Lamborghini, an occurrence that only comes about once every decade and is always greatly received. This time, however, Lambo has really pushed the boat out and dived head first into the hybrid supercar world.

The 6.5-litre V12 chucks out 607kw of power and 725nm of torque all on its lonesome and revs to a howling 9250rpm. But the Revuelto has three additional electric motors, two up front and one out back, with each making 110kw and 350nm of torque for the front mounted motors and 150nm for the rear mounted motor. This means this bull produces close to a 1000hp easily, making it the fastest production lambo ever, hitting 100kph in 2.5 seconds.

Naturally, all the EV components do add to the weight of Revuelto. However, due to its carbon tub and panels, Revuelto weighs 130kg more than Aventador. At least you have the added benefits of EV modes, meaning you could drive on full electric mode for up to a whopping....10km. Results that'll make Greenpeace proud.

This is arguably the biggest shake-up to Lamborghini since the Miura back in the late 1960s as this opens the door for the Italian marque to venture down the EV rabbit hole. But we can always trust Lamborghini to find a way to make it very, very interesting.

What are your thoughts on the new Reveulto? Is making it a hybrid a mistake?

New: 2024 GMA T.33 Spider

The automotive world has been very fortunate to have been graced with the designing prowess of Gordon Murray. Whilst he famously designed the awe-inspiring McLaren F1 in the early 90s, he's now penning some of the most technologically advanced and jaw-dropping supercars of the decade.

Recently revealed was the open topped variant of the T.33 coupe. Only 100 units of this $3.5-million engineering marvel will ever be produced. This highly exclusive club will have access to GMA's masterpiece of an engine. The 3.9-litre naturally-aspirated V12 not only revvs to 11,100rpm but punches out 448kw and 470nm of torque through either a 6-speed manual or automated manual gearbox.

This Cosworth-developed monster powerplant goes hand in hand with the T.33 Spiders 1008kg kerb weight. This was accomplished by the carbon-fibre body and tub, resulting in its extremely diminutive weight. The clever engineering doesn't stop at the weight of the body panels, but also at how GMA utilised it to house the capacious side saddle boot space, a tribute to the F1. The torsional rigidity is claimed to have been completely unchained, a testament to the carbon tub.

In a world where everything is becoming automated, heavy, and turbo-charged, it's good to see GMA breaking the mould and showing the industry what a true supercar is.

What are your thoughts on the T.33 Spider?
Can you spot to the subtle hints of the McLaren F1 in its design?

New: 2023 Peugeot 508

Whilst Peugeots' new look 508 may not fit the generally accepted criteria to be categorised as a supercar, it most certainly can't be labelled mainstream.

You see, the French are well versed in the art of pushing both style and engineering envelopes and creating their own unique take on the mainstream market. Citroen forged their own path with clever hydropneumatic suspension throughout their range, Renault went turbo crazy and developed hot family cars, and Peugeot made the 205 GTI. Regarded as one of automotive history's greatest hits. However, they quickly forgot everything and made the 206 a crime against humanity on wheels.

But present-day Peugeot have thankfully crawled their way out of the rut and are now making things like the 508, one of the best-looking cars in its segment. Its sharp lines, flameless grille, and fanged headlights distinguish it from the pack like a flare in the dead of night. It's also one of those rare examples where the wagon variant is the best looking.

Under the skin lies a wide selection of drivetrain options, from a modest 97kw 4-cylinder engine to a punchy 268kw in the range topping PSE AWD. New, however, is the 134kw PHEV edition using a 110kw 1.6-litre turbo charged 4-cylinder and an 84kw electric motor.

In summary, the 508 is the truly attractive option.

Pricing and local releases are all yet to be determined.

What are your thoughts? How does it compare to its rivals? Comment below

New: 2023 Aston Martin DBS 770 Ultimate

A few months back Aston unveiled their last V12 powered Vantage signalling the beginning of the end for the powerplant. We knew sooner or later, the same fate would befall the DBS which had for the last couple of decades utilised with great success that V12. But Aston are poised to discontinue the motor and the DBS following this final iteration.

The 770 Ultimate will be a limited run production meaning only a select few hundred will get to experience this 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12 that's now pumping out 566kw and 900nm of torque. The increase in power means this DBS will get to 100kph in 3.4 seconds and onto a top speed of 340kp/h.

Improvements haven't been contained to the powerplant. Chassis strengthening, new vents and splitter along with the reworked suspension and remapped gearbox means the Ultimate will handle alot more aggressively than the standard car.

I've always loved the DBS with a passion. It's sleek, clean and comparatively understated styling coupled with a biblical motor ticked all the right super car/grand tourer boxes. Seeing it relegated to the pages of history again is painful but in the wake of new emissions and fuel efficiency standards, ultimately it was an like a typewriter at a PC convention.

What are your thoughts on the demise of the DBS? Will it ever come back?

New: 2023 Alfa Romeo Gulia SWB Zagato

To celebrate 100 years of collaboration between Alfa Romeo and Zagato, the pair undertook a new one off project to pay tribute to their century old partnership. This one of one, largely carbon fibre coupƩ version of Alfa's Gulia sedan is probably the best way to cap off the year in the automotive world.

Whilst exact details of its weight is unknown, the marque did emphasise on the large use of carbon fibre around the vehicle. Ontop of the shortened wheel-base, it's safe to say that it most likely lighter than the Gulia it's based on. Power remains the same with the 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 producing 397kw and 600nm of torque mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox for added pleasure.

One can easily observe some of the trademark Zagato styling features which haven't gone missing from this example. For one, the subtle double bubble carbon roof which has made an appearance on a great many Zagato cars. Along with the triple beam headlights referencing the Alfa SZ, another Alfa-Zagato collaboration.

What are your thoughts on this? What other great styling collaborations have caught your eye?

New: 2023 Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato

The term cross-over has been used on many cars over the decades, usually jacked up hatchbacks and wagons with a bit of ground clearance and matte black plastic mouldings. However, the Huracan is not a jacked up hatchback, nobody has ever looked at it and thought "hmm if only it sat taller, had aggressive tread and it's V10 breathed through a roof snorkel". Yet Lamborghini has gone ahead and catered to this non-existent person and created the 'Worlds Ultimate Cross-Over'.

Whether Lamborghini appreciates me calling it that is another matter but we digress.

The RnD team at Lambo; to give credit where credits due. Have thought outside of the box with this one, admittedly adding to the ever growing batch of Huracan variants. It's not by any means a styling exercise but actually a fully functioning and tested off-roader (I use that term very lightly).

With new springs and dampers, strengthened suspension arms and unique geometry, Sterrato means business. It sits 44mm higher than the standard car, bringing it up to 171mm of ground clearance. Meaning it does somewhat meet the requirements of a cross-over. Special tyres were created by Bridgestone to fit the fat 244/40 R19 up front and even larger 285s in the back. Add to that chassis strengthening and under body protection, and you have one hell of a paddock basher.

What are your thoughts on Lambo's recent adventure?
What would be the first trip you'd make in it?

New: 2023 Subaru Impreza

Recently unveiled at the LA Motor Show was Subaru's sixth-generation of their popular and much beloved Impreza.

Some big changes have been announced for next year's Impreza all of which includes the return of the RS nameplate slotting in below WRX and STI, along with the discontinuation of Impreza sedan. This time the decision to drop the sedan won't affect WRX since it's now its own thing.

While Impreza sedan is gone, RS is back. Something which has been absent since the mid-2000s but has returned in full force. Subaru announcing that it'll receive a 2.5-litre N/A (136kw/ 241nm) boxer four-cylinder, sports suspension (steering from the old WRX) and a host of other visual upgrades to let people know......this isn't your regular Impreza.

A standard 2.0-litre variant will be offered as the S with the same sports suspension but output will only be 113kw/197nm. No turbo or hybrid engines announced as of yet.

Finally we get onto the styling which draws alot of comparison with its more rugged sibling, the XV (soon to be renamed Crosstrek). It's roof line is made to look taller and the rear lights have been shifted up, giving it a high rider appearance. Proportionally I'm not a fan, it doesn't differentiate itself enough from Mazda 3 (with its long front end overhang) and short busy rear end of old Honda Civic. But it still works as a whole and looks upmarket.

But I'm sure it'll still be a strong seller for Subaru and it'll see Impreza soldier on through the 2020s.

What's a nameplate or trim level you'd like Subaru to bring back?
(I'd like to see SVX return)

Joondalup Festival of Speed Part 2

Here are some more pics from yesterday's awesome event. A particular standout is the powder blue Mini, having spoken to the owner he told me how it's taken him 20+ years to restore it from just a bare shell and some boxes all by himself. He's done an outstanding job.

All the other cars were just too good not to post. From the E39 Touring to the elegance of the classic Jag and Rolls Royce to the perky and fizzy Renault Alpine A110 SX.

Which of these would be your pick for best in show?

Joondalup Festival of Motoring 2022

Today I sprung out of bed with excitement for the days events and I wasn't disappointed. The inaugural event thrown by the City of Joondalup spanned across 3 days with today being the last and biggest event.

Comprising of a Motoring World Precinct with hundreds of vehicles separated into groups from their respective continents. Simultaneously there was a 2km Sprint circuit where drivers showed off their skills behind the wheel.

The classic cars were out on force with some very very tasty morsels strewn about the place. From the brutish Camaro's and Monaro's to the delicate lines of a E9 BMW and P1800 Volvo, there was everything for everyone.

Festivities will carry on until later this evening with cocktail events capping off this year's Festival of Motoring. Hopefully next time I'll be able to catch all 3 days and bask in some more motoring marvels.

Were you there? Comment on your favourite part.
Which one of these machines would you take home?

New: Maserati GranTurismo

Ladies and gentlemen, the moment we've all been waiting for has finally arrived. The return of the GranTurismo.

While it's true, some cars may catch your eye, even maybe stop you in your tracks to gawk at for a few seconds. But very few make you drop onto your knees in awe and worship the ground it rolls on whilst saying a prayer to whichever God or entity you may or may not praise, to thank them for letting you see THIS. When Maserati gets it right....oh boy do they get it right.

But the GranTurismo is more than just a pretty face, it's a technical tour de force combining classic looks with state of the art technology. Chief among which has to be the multiple powerplant options made available. The 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 out of the MC20 has graced the all new specially designed chassis of the new GT and will be available in two forms of tune.

Modena: 365kw/600nm hauling it to 100km/h in 3.9 seconds and onto 302km/h

Trofeo: 410kw/650nm hauling it to 100km/h in 3.5 seconds and onto 320km/h

It doesn't end there though, a flagship version of the GranTurismo named Folgore ditches the V6 and opts for a tri-motor EV system. Producing 610kw/800nm of torque and propelling it to 320km/h

I for one am immensely happy at what they've created and ensured that GranTurismo will continue to age like a fine wine. Maserati has another winner on their hands.

Aussie release in late 2023.

What are your thoughts on this absolute marvel? Are the looks or figures which attracts you the most?

New: 2023 Ford Mustang

The redesigned Mustang has been a matter of discussion within the auto community for fear it would be the last in the series. However, Ford have announced that they will continue to develop and sell the Mustang for the foreseeable future as its popularity has only increased in recent times.

This new seventh generation S650-series 'Stang still uses the old sixth generation platform first introduced in 2015 with the S550. Because of this factor, there are no hybrid or electrification options available....much to some peoples delight. It also means Mustang will remain rear-drive for another generation but it wouldn't be too left field to suggest the 8th Gen car might break that rule.

Power plants remain largely the same with 5.0-litre N/A V8 and 2.3-litre turbo 4-cylinder still available. Only notable changes are a new turbo for the Ecoboost four and a new intake for the V8. Official figures for both motors haven't been released yet but more will come soon.

This new sharpened contemporary take on the retro looks of the original Mustang reinforce just why Mustang is the best selling sports car in the world. It's also one of the rarer sports cars available with a V8 AND a manual combo so purists can rejoice.

What do you think of Fords effort with this new Mustang? Too much or too little?

New: 2023 Mercedes-AMG C63 S E Performance

I think it's fair to say the old saying "There's no replacement for displacement" is quickly becoming more and more false. The chief debunker of this adage seems to be from Mercedes-AMG, surprisingly enough.

The German automaker has shaken things up by creating something of a powerhouse. A 500kw, 1060nm AWD 4-cylinder hydrid super sedan. Yes some of these stats may be confusing or down right ridiculous but things are evolving quickly.

Speaking of quick, this new 'baby' power plant boasts some very grown up numbers. For starters, it beats out the out going 4-litre twin-turbo V8 to 100kp/h by half a second at 3.4 seconds and it'll go on to a top speed of 280kp/h.

To sum up, I don't know what's more impressive. The fact that a 4-cylinder engined albeit hydrid assisted car is making 500kw and over a 1000 torques or that in the end it'll return a very nice 6.9L/100km. Eitherway the new C63 will rub some people the wrong way but putting that snobbery aside, you have to admit.....this is one hell of a machine.

How much more power do you think they'll be able to get from that 2-litre engine?
What else should be expect from AMG going forward?

As always, let me know your thoughts in the comments below.

New: 2023 Ferrari Purosangue

Alas the time has finally come upon us when Ferrari has released their first SUV. It's fair to say Ferrari should have the upper hand in ensuring the 'S' part of SUV will be just that...Sporty.

Whilst many have dreaded the day the Maranello brand would finally go the way of the pack, when all said and done they have managed to keep that Ferrari magic alive. Albeit on paper.

With its N/A 6.5 V12 producing 533kw and 716nm of torque, Purosangue manages to beat its forced induction rivals on power but not quite on torque. But it certainly makes up for it with its 8200rpm red line. Take that Lamborghini.

Now for the design. I must admit I'm not head over heels in love with it however I wouldn't go as far as to say it's ugly. It's passing resemblance to the FF and GTC4 Lusso (both great lookers) is welcomed, Ferrari has stayed true to the form introduced by these cars and you can't blame them.

To recap, Ferrari's new V12 is an all-wheel drive, four seater, four door SUV. Doesn't sound quite right but I guess this is the new age. Thank god it's still a V12 though.

What are your thoughts on this? Hit or miss?
