About us

Alana Dagwell and Laura Jackel met when they were working in the communications team for a local group of technical colleges, Hunter TAFE in 2005.

They have not stopped talking since.

Laura

Originally from Crawley in the U.K, Laura Jackel is a published writer and academic tutor at the University of Newcastle. She is a regular contributor to Mamamia and SheSAID and has had articles published by Sunday Life Magazine, Selector Magazine, Façon, Essential Baby and The Guardian.

Laura is a passionate reader and is a volunteer board member of the Newcastle Writers Festival.

Outside of work Laura is a happily married mum of two boys, an avid social media user and an excitable coffee-drinking, Prosecco-sipping fool.

Alana

Alana is a proud, born-and-bred Novocastrian (that’s what we call someone who lives in Newcastle, Australia).

She’s worked for herself as a marketing and communications specialist since her eldest child was born in 2012.

Her interest (read: ‘obsession’) with social media has seen her offer both social media marketing and content services in recent years.

She’s a Word Nerd with a love of language, so much so that she studied English plus two foreign languages for her final year of school.

Her happy place is the beach.
