Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation has partnered with music-based youth charity Musicians Making A Difference - MMAD to launch the Rewriting Futures program on the Central Coast.

This initiative is designed to support vulnerable young people to transform their lives through music and mentoring, offering life skills, social connections, and a big boost in confidence.

A family affair.

Lake Superior.

Creating a private sanctuary with breathtaking views was the aim for this idyllic waterfront home. Set on the edge of Lake Macquarie’s blue expanse in Belmont, the three-bedroom, three-bathroom residence is a long-held dream realised for the owners. The couple bought the property in 2002, with the view to renovate the existing dwelling on the site once their children had grown up.

The Young Mariners’ Pool at Newcastle Baths has become a local legend, with debates continuing over its existence and fate.

Some swear they once “jumped off Africa,” some believe a beautiful tile mosaic map of the world still lies underneath the sand, and others don’t think the map ever existed. So, what happened to Newcastle’s Young Mariners Pool?

Recently being uncovered by big swell, you’ll see coloured remnants of the map around the edge of the pool.

Fond memories of Newcastle Mall.

Hunter Street, once stood as the retail heart of the region, brimming with life and activity. Footpaths were filled with people enjoying a spot of window shopping, bumping into school friends, neighbours, and family. It was the place to be, a vibrant hub of social and commercial activity.

Today, the mall is undergoing a rebirth with the development of stage two of the East End revitalisation. It’s a journey from nostalgia to renewal.

Steeped in tradition, the annual Aberdeen Highland Games 2024 are this weekend and are as synonymous with Scottish custom as the fabric upon which it is built: the humble tartan 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

The games will commence with a parade featuring bands, clan representatives, and other participants, leading into the grand Massed Band Salute and Chieftain’s Address, which officially inaugurates the day’s festivities.

Derryck Klarkowski, co-founder of We Care Connect has been awarded the Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation 2024 Chairman’s Medal.

Derryck has helped create an innovative, volunteer-led organisation that connects quality, unused childhood equipment and other essential goods to families in need. From its humble beginnings in Wyong in 2016, the organisation has supported over 23,685 children experiencing poverty across the Central Coast and the Hunter.
