Perched on the first floor in downtown Abbotsford, The Aviary is a fully equipped 24 channel recording studio with the 1978 MCI 428B console and MCI JH-16 2" 24 track tape machine at it's heart. Hand crafted by studio owner/in-house engineer/producer, Fraser Montgomery, The Aviary is a rare inner-city recording experience, with abundant natural light and walls decked with recycled timber. The layo
ut consists of a large tracking room, large vocal/dead room, 2 isolation cupboards and a comfortable control room with views over Abbotsford and plenty of arvo sun. The studio is a stones throw from Victoria Street Station, The Yarra Hotel, Cafe's and Bars, and Victoria Streets selection of Pho. The Aviary is a creative a vibrant hub of music industry professionals; In the 'Mezzanine Studio' we have Tristan Ludowyk of Hope Street Recordings; Studio A is Joe Hammond; Studio B is Stephen Mowatt aka Matik and Oscar Dawson (Holy Holy) ; Studio C is Josh Barber and Nick Lam! In the office spaces we have film maker Time Wood; Lia Avene of Prop Joe and Philemon; Bill Bate Photography; Daniel King; Matt Glass; Brooke Russell; Nik Miliatadou; Sam Swain and Jeraff... getting busy and making things happen; and resident in the recording studio is Fraser Montgomery and Aviary Productions, which handles all in-house engineering, production, post-productio etc. For the recording studio:

Rates are based on $600 (+gst) per day w/ engineer, or $350 (+gst) per day for freelance engineers and producers to hire the studio.
