- TRAGIC ACCIDENT CLAIMS ANOTHER LIFE:
Two separate road deaths have occurred in Langwarrin just days a part. The first was an 18-year-old who was struck and killed on May the 2nd. The second was a teenager who was a passenger of a vehicle involved in collision in Langwarrin on the 6th May.

- SHIRE VOICES CONCERN OVER FUNDING SHORTFALL:
The Mornington Peninsula Shire is raising alarms about significant funding issues with the Victorian Government, a concern confirmed by CEO John Baker during a recent budget session.

- PROPOSED LEVY RECEIEVS STRONG OPPOSITION FROM LOCALS:
Shire's Proposed 3.3% Levy Faces Strong Opposition from Locals:
A recent poll conducted by the STPL News reveals significant opposition to the Mornington Peninsula Shire's proposed 3.3% levy. Out of 158 respondents, a striking 133 believe the levy is a bad idea, while only 15 support it. The remaining participants were unsure.

- STATE BUDGET WINNERS & LOSERS
The recent State budget has defined areas for increased investment such as education, health and PT. Unfortunately, rising state debt under the current Labor Government has been a focal point of critique, with predictions that this could lead to economic instability, ultimately burdening residents

In line with the Municipality Review by the Victorian Government, the new boundaries and Ward Changes for the Mornington Peninsula Shire have been released.
The Somerville Times will be covering the election across the Mornington Peninsula Shire to provide fair and unbiased reporting.
We have also put together a short video providing you with some details on the Council Ward and Boundary Changes.
Additionally, we have created a Facebook group called Mornington Peninsula Votes. As we get closer to the election, we will use it as platform for candidates and voters to engage with each other in a respectful manner.
The next Local Council Elections will be held in October 2024.
