šŸŽ„ Simplify Christmas: Start with a Plan

A few years ago, I remember rushing around the week before Christmas. I hadnā€™t planned properly, and the stress hit me like a freight train. There were presents I still needed to buy, food to prepare, and the house was a mess. By the time Christmas Day arrived, I felt exhausted instead of excited.

That year taught me an important lesson: Christmas shouldnā€™t feel like a marathon. So, now, every year in early December, I sit down on a Sunday with a cup of tea, a notebook, and a pen. I write down everything that needs to happen before Christmas:

šŸŽ Presents to buy (and for whom!)
šŸ„§ Food to bake or prepare
šŸ—“ļø People to see or visit
šŸ§¹ Cleaning and decorating tasks
Once itā€™s all on paper, I create a timetable and spread the tasks out over the next two weeks. This simple process has transformed the holidays for me. By tackling a little bit each day, I can avoid last-minute panic and actually enjoy the festive season.

āœØ The lesson Iā€™ve learned is this: Planning ahead removes stress and helps you focus on the joy of the season. Youā€™ll feel calmer, more in control, and better able to enjoy the moments that matter.

A few years ago, I remember a particular weekend where everything felt overwhelming. My to-do list seemed endlessā€”cleaning, errands, phone callsā€”and by Sunday night, I felt drained, irritable, and disconnected. It hit me: I hadnā€™t done a single thing for myself.

The next weekend, I made a promise to myself: Iā€™d carve out time just for me. I booked a massage, turned off my phone for an hour, and spent the afternoon with a good book and a cup of tea. The difference was incredible. I felt calmer, more present, and recharged for the week ahead.

Hereā€™s the lesson I learned: Taking time for yourself isnā€™t selfishā€”itā€™s essential. When we pour into ourselves, we can give more fully to others and handle lifeā€™s challenges with greater ease.

āœØ So, this weekend, I encourage you to do the same. Step back from the busyness of life and prioritize YOU. Whether itā€™s a walk in nature, a hobby you love, or just some quiet time to reflect, nurture yourself. Your mental health will thank you.

šŸ’” Feeling Overwhelmed After a Breakup? You're Not Alone.
A few years ago, I sat across from a close friend, tears streaming down her face. She had just ended a 15-year relationship and felt as though her entire world had crumbled. ā€œI donā€™t know who I am without him,ā€ she said. As she described her pain, I recognized her emotionsā€”they were raw, unfiltered, and deeply human.

Her story mirrored my own in so many ways. When my marriage ended, I thought I had to stay strong, to ā€œmove onā€ without really acknowledging the deep sadness and anger bubbling under the surface. So, I buried it all. I plastered on a smile, telling myself I was fine. But inside, I wasnā€™t. Eventually, those suppressed emotions showed up in unexpected waysā€”snapping at loved ones, sleepless nights, and an overwhelming sense of emptiness.

It wasnā€™t until I allowed myself to feelā€”to cry, to rage, to grieveā€”that I started to heal. I journaled, sought support from friends and a counsellor, and even sat with the uncomfortable emotions instead of running from them.

Hereā€™s the lesson I want you to take from this: Emotions are not the enemy. Theyā€™re a natural response to the upheaval in your life. Ignoring them only delays the healing process. Yes, itā€™s hard to face them, but doing so allows you to release their hold on you. And hereā€™s the good news: they wonā€™t last forever.
