On “Radio Theatre” throughout July 2024, Radio Mansfield presents “We’ll Meet Again – Act 7: The Beginning of the End” by Mansfield writer Denise Kramaczuk.

We return to our story set during World War Two, with the brave Elsie, who was working undercover in France, now imprisoned by the Gestapo and being tortured for information.

On the other side of the English Channel, James Craig has been selected to take part in a gruelling course with the Special Operations Executive, in readiness to return to France and rescue Elsie.

He may have been injured, but James is determined to complete the course and be reunited with the woman he loves.

Find out what happens, as our war drama continues in“We’ll Meet Again – Act 7: The Beginning of the End”, broadcast every Sunday afternoon throughout July - right after the three o’clock news
on “Radio Theatre”, as part of Roger’s Groovin’ on a Sunday Arvo ”show - on Radio Mansfield, 99.7FM.

Tomorrow's public rally regarding Mansfield Hospital management will commence from 11am in the High St median strip.

Radio Mansfield will be conducting a live broadcast from the event also from 11am. So if you're at the rally look out for us. If you can't make it, tune in.

Then stay tuned as Neil will be chatting with Nick Theodossi from about 1:20pm about his proposed state of the art, two storey Mansfield Automotive Museum in Dead Horse Lane.

What is proposed as not only a tourist destination, but also a conference and educational space, is under threat having hit some hurdles with the beaurocracy.

On Sunday afternoons on “Radio Theatre” throughout June 2024, Radio Mansfield presents … “Volcanic Eruption”, by Benalla writer Simone Curtis.

When Merrijig plumber Neville Allport and his wife Sue accept an invitation to dinner at the luxurious home of eccentric Mansfield couple Hugh and Hazel Cornish - as way of thanking Neville for his recently completed work on their ‘rumbling pipes’ - the dinner will have some rather ‘unexpected’ results!

While we can’t give too much away, the meal served by Mr and Mrs Cornish, … and what follows soon after … will be somewhat … ‘explosive’! ‘

Not for the faint-hearted, find out in what happens in the Mansfield dinner from hell in … “Volcanic Eruption”, our hilarious new radio play … broadcast every Sunday afternoon throughout June - right after the three o’clock news on “Radio Theatre”, as part of Roger Nolan’s “Groovin’ on a Sunday Afternoon” show - on Radio Mansfield, 99.7FM.

The potential loss of local management of Mansfield Hospital due to proposed legislation is the most critical health issue our community has faced in years.

Tune in to Radio Mansfield tomorrow (Saturday) just after the midday news to hear Dr Will Twycross speak about the issues and the potential implications for Mansfield’s health services if this proposal goes ahead.

Radio Mansfield is a volunteer run community radio station.

This means every presenter featured here over the last few months (including those not yet featured, and others working behind the scenes) is one of our fabulous volunteers.

Radio Mansfield would like to extend a huge thank you to our volunteers - we couldn't be prouder of the contribution each and every one makes to ensuring we stay on air. We certainly could not do it without their commitment and enthusiasm.

If you are interested in volunteering with us (either on air or off air), please head to our website https://radiomansfield.org.au/get-involved/ for further information. We would love to hear from you.

This coming Saturday tune into Murray and Neil’s MaN Show from midday through to 2pm.

From 1 o’clock they will be having a chat with Shez Telford, a committee member of the Victorian High Country Huts Association, a volunteer group which cares for the many old pioneering huts located in our area’s high country and along its rivers.

The VHCHA is turning 20 this year and to celebrate it will be holding a one day only event at the Mansfield Showgrounds on Saturday October 28.

Don’t miss the program to find out more about our precious high country heritage and the group’s showgrounds event on the 28th.

Having been on air for just over six months, Simone Boyd loves the fact that music has the power to elicit memories of people, places and events. She feels it is a privilege to be able to transport listeners back to the fabulous 1980's.

So Simone, if you could only play one artist during your program, who would it be and why?

It would definitely be a toss up between INXS and Bruce Springsteen. Springsteen's songs are rich in rhythm and emotion, and he is such a gifted story teller. However, in the end, I think INXS would win the battle. A classic Australian band whose music is truly timeless. Having seen them in concert at Festival Hall as a teenager; their energy, talent and charisma is second to none.

You can listen to Simone every Tuesday afternoon from 4pm - 6pm as she presents her program "Big hair and leg warmers with a twist".

With a title like "Big hair and leg warmers with a twist", surely there can be little confusion about the musical decade you will listening to here. Showcasing music from the fabulous 1980's with the occasional twist where we throw in a song from another decade.

Tune in this afternoon from 4pm - 6pm with your presenter Simone Boyd. Leg warmers, balloon skirts, fingerless gloves and electronic drums are mandatory!

Tune in to hear our newest presenters Murray Wallace and Neil Thompson - on air every alternate Saturday from 12pm - 2pm (yes, you can listen to them today!) Their show is cleverly called the MaN Show (Murray and Neil).

So what can we expect to hear on your show gentlemen?

Music and conversation is a part of everyone’s lives. The 70s were where our major music influences come from so that’s what we’ll be playing which hopefully will rustle up a few memories for listeners.

We also love a chat - nothing too serious – and we’ll enjoy just having a yarn in between our playlists. Down the track we hope to be involved with a program of conversation where we interact with the audience to create a true community feel. The district is full of characters and stories to be shared. We’d love to uncover and share them in due course.

A very warm welcome to one of our newest presenters Murray Wallace. Murray's motivation to be a part of the Radio Mansfield team stems from a desire to be a part of the community and perhaps make a difference.

Tell us Murray, what was the first album you bought?
Please please me by the Beatles.

And the first concert you attended?
The Bay City Rollers.

Murray is one of the hosts of "The MaN show". On air every alternate Saturday from 12pm - 2pm. More on that tomorrow - stay tuned!

Meet Lyn Holland - one of our very important "fill in" presenters. You may hear Lyn's voice when one of our regular hosts is unable to be on air. Lyn has been gracing the airwaves "on and off" since 2008 and enjoys sharing music that people may not hear otherwise.

Tell us Lyn, if you could invite three artist (dead or alive) to a BBQ, who would they be and why?
1. Fred Smith - Great Australian story teller and song writer with awesome life experience.
2. Roy Orbison - That voice!!!!!!!
3. Leonard Cohen - Great poetry and vast life experience. Would make great conversation and could probably flip burgers too. 😀

Introducing Mike Fisher - your co-host of "Greg Wilder's The Long Road". On air with Geoff Pitt every Tuesday afternoon from 1pm to 4pm. Like Geoff, Mike joined Radio Mansfield in January 2023 and enjoys discovering new artists to bring you each week.

So Mike, if you could invite three artists (dead or alive) to a BBQ, who would they be and why?
1. BB King
2. Charlie Watts
3. King Curtis
Because then I would have an unbelievable band!

Meet the passionate Blue's devotee Geoff Pitt - one half of the team who bring you "Greg Wilder's The Long Road" every Tuesday afternoon between 1pm and 4pm. Geoff joined Radio Mansfield in January 2023, out of a desire to keep the late Greg Wilder's legacy alive. Geoff loves the Blues, enjoys having listeners tune in each week along with the banter and laughs he has with his co-presenter Mike.

Tell us Geoff, if you could invite three artists (dead or alive) to a BBQ, who would they be and why?
1. Walter Trout - he has been playing the Blues for 56 years!
2. Mark Knofler - his music (Dire Straits) was my saviour during the 80's. Also, he hails from NE England.
3. Ian Gillian - lead singer of Deep Purple to ask him how he screams in key.

Can't get enough Blues in your life? Then "Greg Wilder's The Long Road" is beckoning you! Tune in this afternoon (and every Tuesday afternoon) between 1pm and 4pm to hear your hosts Geoff Pitt and Mike Fisher bring you the very best in Blues music from across the decades.

Each week, Geoff and Mike present the show as a tribute to the late Greg Wilder, who was the 'frontman' for the program for many, many years. We are sure Greg would be proud to know his memory lives on through the music.

Say hello to the very fun Linda T - presenter of "Living in the 70's with Linda T" and "Thursday throwback". Linda has been on air since 2016 and is motivated by playing 70's music for the listeners and simply making one person happy by playing a song that brings back memories for them.

So Linda, if you could invite three artists (dead or alive) to a BBQ, who would they be and why?

1. Elvis Presley!! To offer myself as his dessert (ha, ha!) 😉😂. Would love to sing with him!
2. Mick Jagger!! To dance and get stoned and sing with him.
3. Bob Dylan!! To sit and just listen to him sing and have a gin and tonic with him!!

Just two weeks left to submit your application for the Chris Deutscher Memorial Scholarship! If you are a local primary or secondary school student with a passion for music, this is an opportunity not to be missed!

Chris Deutscher Memorial Scholarship - applications now open.

For the third year, Radio Mansfield 99.7 FM is offering a scholarship in honour of one of our founding members Chris Deutscher, who passed away in 2018. Chris had a passion for Australian country music and was himself a talented musician.
In his memory, Radio Mansfield decided to create an annual Memorial Scholarship to promote and encourage two Mansfield students who have a passion and talent for music.

The first grant of $300 is by way of encouragement and is awarded to a primary aged student who has been undertaking music lessons for at least a year. The grant may be used for continued music education or put towards the purchase/hire of an instrument.

The second grant of $500 is for a secondary aged student and will be awarded in recognition of their achievement in music to date. It may be utilised for the continuance of his/her own music education, put towards the purchase/hire of an instrument or perhaps even to undertake a recording of their own work.

For further information, head to our website https://radiomansfield.org.au/chris-deutscher-memorial-scholarship-entries-open-2/

Entries close September 29th, 2023. We look forward to receiving your application.

Introducing Tony Froud - presenter of two programs early in the week, Monday Lunchbox and Jokers Wild. Tony has had two stints on air at Radio Mansfield - the first from 2009 until 2014, and the second from December 2021 until today (and beyond we hope, Tony!)

Tell us Tony, if you could invite three artists (dead or alive) to a BBQ, who would they be and why?

1. Buddy Holly. Because in 1959 my 'crowd' were all a lot younger and we were devastated by his premature death. It would be a chance to talk to him and show him how his music shaped rock over the years.
2. Dolly Parton. Because not only is she a great singer - she would be the life and soul of the party!
3. My father. A classical musician, talented on many instruments and trained in the British military. He disliked Rock n' Roll intensely! A chance to show him modern music isn't so bad. He died in 1963.
