Love this from a guy who is a production genius - "So i guess my longwinded point here is... Take the time to get to know the people you are working with as artists. Listen to them about what they like and what they are going for. Really LISTEN to the way they play....even if they technically stink, find whats beautiful, fragile and human and bring that out and show them how to be proud of it. Dont assume that every nuance needs to be ironed out. ANNNNNYBODY CAN DO THAT. ANYONE!!!! Anybody can auto tune anybody can beat detective or trigger, thats so so so so easy, boring, and a fantastic way to date your records.

Microphone history time! The Coles 4038 ribbon microphone made by the BBC is legendary in the industry and are all over the Beatles and Led Zeppelin records. We have 2 here at Soundwells!

Designed and built by the BBC in the early 1950s, the Coles 4038 is one of the most popular ribbon microphone of all time. With its unique hoof-like shape and an appearance similar to waffle iron, this microphone has a sound that is extremely hard to match.
