🎉 Talent Spotlight: Una Shih 🎉

We love seeing our talent out in the world — creating, building, and telling stories that matter. Una Shih is doing exactly that with her powerful new short film and showreel scene, The Cape.

A deeply personal project inspired by her experiences with motherhood and immigration, The Cape was written and fully funded by Una herself. The film explores the quiet yet profound bond between mother and daughter — a moving story of love, legacy, and cultural connection.

Adding another layer of authenticity and heart, Una performed in the film alongside her daughter, Aurora Smith — bringing their real-life bond to the screen in a beautifully honest way.

We’re thrilled to share that The Cape has been officially selected for the 2025 Montreal Women Film Festival (MWFF) and will have its international premiere on October 1st in Canada. Even more exciting, Una has been honored with the Best Producer Award at this year’s MWFF!

This isn’t just filmmaking — it’s bridge-building, heart-sharing, and community storytelling at its finest.

🎬 On Saturday night, Kristy, Guy, and Katrina — along with our in-house editor, Matt — had the pleasure of attending the Goat Track Theatre Acting for Film Graduation & Industry Night on the Gold Coast.

The team took part in a panel and Q&A, sharing insights into the industry and answering questions from graduates and their families about representation and getting started in the acting world.

They also had the chance to watch the graduates’ highlight reels and connect in some great conversations about what being represented by Howell looks like.
