Trip completed! Yesterday morning we left Gili Air and at 1330 Bali time Zac Martin and myself arrived in Sanur, Bali completing the final part of the Australia to Bali JetSki odyssey.
It was the trip of a lifetime and made so many new friends all across Indonesia.

I would like to say a big thank you to everyone for their support, my lovely wife Sarah Fauziah, Zac Martin, Benjamin Nock, IGusti Agung Indra Palguna and Ida Ayu Utari for making this trip possible.
Also thank you to all who came to the arrival and also everyone who donated
to the cause.
It was a mammoth effort and over 20,000,000 rupiah was raised to support SoleFamily Bali. Wowbooze Bali will be matching the total raised.

The Australia to Bali JetSki trip was a world first, and will be a great tale to tell the kids and grandkids in the future.

The two jetskis “Bali bogans” and “Wowbooze Voyager” are going in for a clean and service and I’ll be spending the next few weeks relaxing with Sarah and my kids Jasmine and Taj for some quality family time.

Have a great week everyone. Much love to all.

Hello everyone, Zac Martin and I have arrived at the Gili islands in Lombok and this is the last night of the Australia to Bali JetSki trip.
We had an amazing past few days exploring Sumbawa and Mojo island was definitely a highlight. Amazing diving, whale sharks and one of the best waterfalls we’ve been to. Cascading clear blue pools in the rainforest. Had the place to ourselves.

Also visited satondo island national park which is an old volcano with a crater lake in the middle of the island.

Today was a long ride of about 170km in choppy conditions.

Tomorrow will step foot on land in Bali around lunchtime. If anyone wants to join us for the party on Sanur beach let me know by messenger. There will be free cold bevies and food for all.

Can’t wait to see Bali again, miss my family so much.
It’s been one heck of a journey

Hi everyone, we have another update for the Australia to Bali JetSki trip.

I have now completed around 2100km and was joined by IGusti Agung Indra Palguna for part 2. We had an amazing adventure through some of the most remote islands of east Indonesia between Alor island and Flores.
Some of the highlights were:

-camping on a remote deserted island, catching fish and cooking them on the beach.
-visiting lembata island and snorkelling its coral gardens.
-arriving in Maumere Flores on a stormy night and almost running into reef, only to come ashore at an abandoned “ghost resort”
- trekking to the tri coloured volcano lake crater of mount kelimutu
-stepping on a stingray and getting stabbed in foot.
-some amazing fishing, spearing fish and having a feast in Central Flores.
-Labuan bajo, komodo national park and Komodo dragons.

Indra has now gone back to Bali and Zac Martin has now taken the reins of wowbooze voyager. Today we continue west and have just arrived in east Sumbawa.

Thank you very much Indra for the great trip. You were an essential part of this Journey and you have gone above and beyond to help and also represent Bali across Eastern Indonesia.

Big welcome to my old school mate Zac. This trip would never have been possible without you.

Our estimated Bali arrival date is Sunday 1st of December. See you all soon !

Please remember we are doing this trip raise awareness for the great work of sole family Bali who help the most disadvantaged in Bali. If you haven’t already donated you still can. I will post the donation link in the comments.

Good morning everyone. Quick update. We have reached Maumere, Flores which is about 2/3 of the way on our JetSki trip from Australia to Bali. We passed by Mount Lewotobi yesterday (pictured at bottom) which is still erupting. Encountered acid rain from the ash and a tricky night time navigation though coral reef. We were late arriving due to a combination of tides, dark skies from the ash and detouring to avoid a major storm. Apart from that all good here, nice spot on the beach with good diving in front of the hotel. Have the tent packed so tonight we are planning to camp out on a remote island about 50km away. Will post more in a couple of days as I get closer to Bali.

If you haven’t already donated to the cause we are supporting then please do so. Sole Family Bali is at the forefront of helping the most disadvantaged communities in Bali. Even a few dollars will help a lot. All donations received will be matched by Wow booze Bali.

Hello everyone good morning. Here is a major update for our JetSki trip from Australia to Bali

I have a new rider join now as Benjamin Nock has gone back to work.
IGusti Agung Indra Palguna from Bali will resume the trip on “Wowbooze Voyager” and I will continue the trip on “ Bali Bogans”
Thank you Ben for your Stirling effort. It was a hardcore first 6 days and wouldn’t be possible without your energy and sense of adventure.

Alor island is a stunning place with vast natural scenery and wildlife. On arrival at Alor island we parked our Jet skis on a beach near the airport and were welcomed by all the locals.
We checked in to Celyn guesthouse and had a bungalow on the beach front at around $30 per night which included all our meals. Celyn guesthouse is run by a Mr Elim, his wife Mrs Emi and their daughter Celyn who is 9 years old.

We went to visit “Mawar”, the most respected figure in the village - a Dugong. Mawar lives at the front of where we were staying and feast on seagrass all day long and loves a belly rub from visitors.

The day Ben left I hung out with the locals at Mali beach, Alor island. In all my travels I’d say they are some of the friendliest, most humble, happy and honest people I’ve ever met.
They had all never seen a JetSki let alone try one so I taught them all (around 20 of them) how to operate our seadoos and let them play with them in the bay all afternoon . They all loved it.

That night we went to Kalabahi town nearby and ate the best bbq fish I’ve ever had. Pictured on right foreground is Elim. The owner of the guesthouse who I had made good friends with and went above and beyond to take care of me, Ben and Indra.

After a great day hanging out together we had an early night as we were pretty tired.

Around 1:30am I woke up to the sounds of Mrs Emi and her daughter screaming and crying yelling “Tolong Tolong” which means “help, help”
I ran outside my bungalow and they led me inside their house next door. Elim was lying in his bed. I checked for breathing and a pulse and he felt cold to the touch. I could see the gravity of the situation and that even CPR was not possible. I called some of the other locals and neighbours to come and help carry him into a truck and take him to a nearby hospital. I stayed with their daughter Celyn and comforted her while her parents were gone that night.
The hospital called me when they arrived and had pronounced him dead upon arrival. He had a suspected heart attack. Elim was aged 39.

A few hours later at around 6am, Mrs Emi returned with her husbands body and the entire village was waiting.

We were planning to leave the next day day on our JetSki odyssey but decided to stay out of respect and to help with the funeral of Elim and the costs of the funeral as for the past 4 days they had looked after us so well as if we were their family.
I picked up Indra from the airport and updated him on what had happened and that we need to stay to help Mrs Emi and her daughter who were still upset and hysterical.
Pak Elim was put to rest beside the house in a traditional ceremony at 11am on Saturday morning. The village of Mali was closed and the burial was attended by hundreds.
Under the local Protestant Christian traditions everyone sang songs and played music next to the tomb until well into the next morning.

The next day on Sunday while everyone Was at church we cleaned up the small amount of rubbish around the village and on the beach and went to to visit an old village in the hills with Indra that had traditions dating back thousands of years to times that pre dated most religions we are familiar with. They still lived in the same way and hunted wild boar in the jungle using arrows.

Indra and I left Alor island at 5am on Monday morning and yesterday we arrived in Lembata island. We will depart westbound towards Flores today when the tides come back in.

This part of my trip was quite confronting in ways that both made me so happy and also saddened me very deeply. It serves as a reminder to all of us to stay healthy, be good kind people to each other and live your life to the fullest, as everything can be taken away from you “in a heartbeat”.

Pleass remember everyone we are doing this trip to raise awareness and donations for Sole Family Bali. Please make a donation if you already haven’t. Wowbooze Bali will match all donations. I will post the links in comments below. Please remember to write “JetSki” when donating to make it easy to track.

Will update you all again soon.
RIP Pak Elim. 🙏🏻

Hello Everyone, we have a brief update.
We have just arrived today in Kalabahi, Alor island. We have now covered 1,260km in 6 days. No major issues to report. Lost a handheld radio into the sea. This is Ben’s last day. He is flying home tomorrow to go back to work and after a couple days rest, I will continue on Friday with Indra. Benjamin Nock was an essential part of this trip and will be sad to see him leave tomorrow. Total respect to one of the toughest mates I’ve ever known. It’s was a hardcore and extremely challenging 1st part of the ride that that will be always remembered and talked about.
Anyway, The show must go on until I reach Bali. will update again soon. Goodnight everyone.

Hi everyone I would like to provide a more detailed update on the Australia to Bali trip.
We have made a successful crossing of the Timor sea and are now in Indonesia 🇮🇩 . Conditions were favourable but it was still a tough leg on our journey.
Left seagull island north of the Tiwi islands at 4:30am and navigated for an hour in the dark to get a head start.
Initially changed route to a remote Indonesian island closer to Australia but recalculated our fuel to be enough to carry on to the port town of Saumlaki. Arrived at dusk on Thursday 7th September 2024.

We even had time to do a bit of fishing at a FAD on our way as we approached the coast of Indonesia.
Ben was only in the water for 2 mins and plugged a tasty little Amberjack.
After 13 hours at sea it was great to see land. We started with 220L of fuel each and finished with about 2-4 litres left in the tank.
Checked in with Indonesian immigration today.
Body is a bit sore so after an extra days rest and organisation we will continue west towards Bali.

Thanks for the support everyone.
Here are some pics.
