Car parking near Noosa Village was bit affected by flooding this morn. Sections were cordoned off and I had to wade through water to get to shopping centre
Why read the Pineapple? We give two or more sides to every story
Love watching several generations of White Headed pigeons living in the gully behind our dam. Anyone else got these in your backyard? Very shy so can only get long distance pix
Thinking tonight of our neighbours to the north with properties under threat in the coming days from Tuchekoi fire. We are in Carters Ridge and fire travelling north away from us but could come back when wind changes. This video of fire front taken at dusk looking south from
Chinaman’s Creek Road. It’s burning along inaccessible ridge lines so likely to burn for days.
We witnessed history in the making today, as the Northern Territory government passed an amendment Bill to remove the word ‘relationship’ from the Sexual Offences Act. ‘Maintaining a sexual relationship with a child’ will now be called exactly what it should be, ‘repeated sexual abuse’ of child.
The NT is the final jurisdiction to remove the word ‘relationship’ from this criminal offence name, in harmony with every other jurisdiction in the nation.
The unequivocal crime of repeated child sexual abuse is no longer called a ‘relationship’ anywhere in this country.
"Thank you to the NT AG Chansey Paech: Member for Gwoja for his support in this space.
Thank you as well to fellow courageous victim-survivor advocates @itsharrijames and @j_zza whose tireless, consistent landmark #YourReferenceAintRelevant Campaign inspired further reforms that passed today. So-called “good character references” for child sex offenders will no longer be considered relevant in the NT.
And to all child sexual abuse victim-survivors, this is for us."
