KNOCKOUT STAGES! The azzurri are matched with Switzerland for this do or die match kicking off at midnight (AWST)

Calafiori has played a big role across the group matches so his out today due to two yellow cards is a blow however whoever takes the field for Italia needs to be ready and find the spirit they used throughout the last Euro tournament to play as a group and just keep finding a way to win 🇮🇹⚽️

I don’t believe we have seen the best of this group yet so let’s hope for a win here and then start playing to full potential and see how far we can go 👊🏽

We were so happy to have Samuel aka and his mother Marina join us for a chat. Samuel is just 8 years old and we loved hearing the story of him choosing to learn the piano accordion, just like his Nonno.

Josie was thrilled to get a live show in her living room. Samuel’s interest and pride in his Italian heritage is easy to see as he told about his love of cars, gave us a phrase in Italian and told us about how he enjoys both preparing and eating olives. And don’t forget about Mum - Marina is a long time Italian teacher and we also thoroughly enjoyed hearing about her experiences and her passion for passing on traditions and the language to the next generation 🇮🇹

We spoke about Joe Burns’ Italian heritage back on episode #6 last September which was titled ‘Unsuspecting Italian Australians’ & then again on Boxing Day last December for episode #20 which was about Italian Australian’s in the sport of cricket so we are thrilled to hear this officially happening 🇮🇹

Touching story about Joe’s brother and we wish him nothing but the absolute best & will definitely be keeping an eye on him and the Italian national team!

Former Australia opener Joe Burns will now play for Italy, aiming to help them qualify for the T20 World Cup 2026 in honor of his late brother and grandparents. 🇦🇺🇮🇹

Burns' brother, Dominic, passed away in February this year. With the 34-year-old not receiving a contract from Queensland for 2024-25, he decided to make the switch.

He will wear the number 85 jersey to honor his brother. ❤️
