Recently, a friend connected me with a charity organization called 4 Voices who were looking for someone to assist in creating web based video content to help raise awareness.

4 Voices really resonated with me.

Their core mission is to provide connection to women, particularly those who are experiencing domestic violence, homelessness, addiction - anyone who is in a vulnerable situation and needs help.

They have a van - called Aurora - which is a mobile connection hub, fitted out with laptops, WiFi and phones. The volunteers are able to help women access online resources, fill out forms and applications, they even provide free mobile phones when necessary.

We were set up outside Centrelink at Woodbridge and spend the day connecting with familiar faces and building new relationships.

4 Voices' set up includes free tea and coffee, free clothing and most importantly, volunteers who are just willing to sit and listen, to allow women to share their story and have their voices heard.

And some of the stories I heard where truly confronting. The kind of experiences no one should ever ever be subjected too.

It's people like Jo and the volunteers at 4 Voices who are making such a difference simply by offering compassion, love and support no matter what circumstances women have come to find themselves in.

I feel so fortunate to have the ability to contribute my time and resources to such a worth cause. And am looking forward to getting back into some video editing!

Imagination & creativity are some of the most valuable qualities.

Especially in business and work.

I was recently listening to a coaching call from one of my business mentors who touched on this and it really resonated.

Those who dare to 'think big' and 'think creatively' will find new and better ways to get things done.

Following on from my post last night, I wanted to offer some more insight into how both influencer marketing and affiliate marketing work.

While there is a lot of value in cultivating a large audience on social media, it takes an investment of time and consistency before you reach the level of Influencer.

Affiliate marketing is something you can really hit the ground running with, learning and earning as you grow your audience.

Some of my thoughts for a Sunday night..

A lot has changed in the world in recently years.

One area in particular that has been changing slowly, but the pandemic has forced it to rapidly accelerate, is retail.

Over the last year traditional bricks and mortar retail shops have been struggling while the online shopping sector is expanding exponentially.

But one thing online shopping doesn't have is salespeople. The kind that work in a store and help you make a purchase. The kind that inform you about their products and help you decide what is the best fit for you.

When I was 18 & 19 I worked in retail at a shoe shop. I quite enjoyed talking to people and helping them choose a pair of shoes. I much preferred it to some of the other jobs I worked like waitressing and fast food.

But with more and more people shopping online how will customers ever get that same kind of human connection and information when purchasing a product via the internet?

How will they ever know about what products to buy or what their options are or even where to look online?

This is where affiliate marketing & social media marketing comes in. I believe that these sales and advertising methods are only going to grow with online retail.

Currently; internet savvy people have found ways to earn money by promoting products via their social media, whether that's on Instagram, through blogs or YouTube. And currently many not so savvy people scoff at the life of an 'influencer'.

But I honestly can envision a future where as more and more brands and retailers are forced to rely on online transactions, they will also rely more and more on online marketing.

Influencers and affiliate marketers will become the new virtual sales people. It's basically happening already but I don't think many people truly understand the potential.

If you have an interest in sharing on social media, you have the potential to create a lucrative business for yourself.

If you'd like to know exactly how you can start harnessing the power and potential of social media and create something something for yourself, reach out and chat. I love this topic 🙌🏻

✨This last week has been wild. 🤯✨

Brisbane lockdown aside, I've been on a bit of a rollercoaster with one of my e-commerce ventures.

Last Sunday I felt like I was hitting roadblocks every step of the way.

Frustrated and overwhelmed, I felt like I had come so far only to still feel stuck.

I surrendered to the fact that I could not actually figure it out by myself and I reached out for help.

And then, like magic, sales started to flood in. Every morning I woke up to a new sale.

I was also connecting with people who could offer value advice. People who were a few steps ahead in their business and who had different skillsets and strengths.

And the incredible part, this is all happening in an automated way in the United States of America!

To give this whole thing a bit of context... I've learned how to create a brand, source products, import them into the US and sell them using Amazon and Shopify.

It's insane that this is all possible, being able to create something like this from your laptop at home, without having to even touch the products. But it's certainly not easy.

The two things that will determine success going forward are paid social media marketing strategies and really analyzing the incoming money verses outgoing expenses - profit and loss.

There are so many variables and unknowns to consider, my brain feels like it will explode sometimes.

Would I recommended an Amazon Private Label USA based business? Hmm, not really to be honest.

Along the way I've discovered many other e-commerce businesses that don't require quite the same learning curve and financial outlay.

If you have the desire to create something online that can earn you money, definitely get in touch. I'd love to share a few ideas.

Yesterday and this morning I was feeling quite overwhelmed.

The masks and lockdowns contributed as well as settling into this new lifestyle and working towards big business goals.

Balancing the paid work I do for others and the time I'm investing in building a business for my family.

I have an overwhelming sense of gratitude for our current circumstances, paired with the discomfort of stepping out of my comfort zone and learning to really trust myself and the process.

But anyway, it's amazing what a bit of yoga can do in the morning and some uplifting podcasts can do. I felt like I literally moved through that overwhelm and ended up having a very productive day.

I hope everyone else is being gentle on themselves, especially during so much uncertainly. 💖

With all that I've discovered in the online business world, I truly believe that selling other people's products in the form of digital marketing is the best place to start.

It requires the least amount of financial risk.

It requires the least amount of time to get started.

It can be automated in many ways.

And no matter whatever it is you want to build an online business around, one of the biggest factors to success is marketing and generating online traffic.

So starting with a digital marketing business, selling other people's products, is the best way to start and the best way to learn and grow.

This is one area that excites me so much and I'm offering mentoring on this topic specifically, helping creative people generate multiple streams of income with digital marketing. Reach out of this interests you

✨Let's chat! ✨

Are you exploring ways to start something that you can channel your creativity into and grow into a business?

Maybe you're wanting to turn your passion for photography into something a little more professional.

Perhaps you're busy designing websites for other people but want to use those skills for something of your own?

Maybe you're documenting and sharing your life on social media and wondering how other people are making money from it?

My brain is full of ideas - I've explored these thoughts myself over the last few years and now I want to share what I've learnt and work directly to help others achieve their goals. To guide you in the right direction and show you some valuable tools and methods I've discovered along the way.

So I invite you to reach out with any questions!

It will give me a lot of insight into what people want to know and how I can tailor my content and services to meet those needs.

I'm working towards setting up a sort of 'brainstorming service' - kind of like a discovery call where I offer straight-to-the point suggestions that best cater to your skills, longterm goals and current work / life situation.

Just send me a direct message with any questions you have any we can start brainstorming!

Pun definitely intended 🤣

What could you be investing in to change your current situation?

No it's not property, shares, crypto.

It's your own skills and knowledge.

It's your own mindset and self belief.

And your own personal brand on social media.

( I know you use social media because you're reading this right now. 😜)

A personal brand is basically just using social media intentionally, show up consistently, offering value whether that is in the form of entertainment, inspiration or information.

Cultivating an online audience or community is a valuable personal assets and can really be the foundations for bigger future opportunities.

It's not easy or quick but it is accessible to anyone. And we all have our own personal perspective and knowledge to share.

What could your personal brand be centered around? What are skills and knowledge can you share?

Selling products online is a huge topic that encompasses so many different methods and possibilities.

There is so much to unpack in this topic - more than will ever fit into one post. So I do plan to dive deeper into it in future posts.

But the main thing to consider is - so many creative skills go into branding and marketing and setting up sales platforms.

- Photography
- Graphic Design
- Website Building
- Copywriting
- Video Production

It's such a creative and collaborative process from start to finish and it's one way that you can be your own client and use your skills for your own gain.

It's something that can be set up over time, in small windows of time and then can turn into an income stream that doesn't require much time to manage.

If this information is resonating with you - make sure you follow to see more, save or share it and leave a question in the comments.

Markets, cafe lunch, putt putt, playgrounds and play on the beach.

Also celebrating some small business wins and reminding myself to keep 'playing the long game' 🙌🏻✨

I remember when I got into wedding videography I saw other successful photographers offering workshops teaching others how to shoot in a similar style to their signature look.

At first, it baffled me because I thought - "Why would you teach others how to copy you? You're creating competitors for your business? "

But it really comes down to a mindset of abundance.

These photographers were no doubt at capacity with their workload and needed to find other photographers to refer work inquiries too.

And they no doubt had many other photographers asking them questions and wanting to pick their brains.

I even had a few other videographers reach out to me for advice, which I thought was crazy because I was just figuring it as I went myself.

The thing is there is always enough work for everyone.

You don't need to hoard skills or insider secrets on how you've achieved success.

In fact, you can actually monetize your knowledge and expertise by sharing them with others. There will always be people willing to pay to know what you know.

And there are plenty of ways you can do this online with e-book, coaching, paid video training and tutorials.

I hope this post sparked some ideas for you. Save it for later, share it with someone who will find it valuable and leave a question in the comments.

Today was a full day at home with the girls while Braino was helping a friend with some work.

I've been working out of the house lately so this was a first day in two weeks I was home all day. I was still able to reply to a few emails and messages though while the girls caught up on Sam Slime. 🤣

Braino's been an absolute domestic god these past weeks. He's been loving his time with the girls but also probably enjoyed something a little different today.

I'm so grateful we currently have this lifestyle where we can prioritize family and choose when we work. Where we can actually pick who gets to drop off and pick Farley up from school. 😍

It's taken some hard work to get to the point and there is a lot of hard work happening to maintain this sort of lifestyle.

But it's so worth it in the longterm. ✨💫

It's never been easier to start creating a second stream of income with online creative freelancing.

It can start as a side hustle and quickly grow to replace your current full time income.

It'll take time and dedication but you can actually become your own boss and work from anywhere that has WiFi in the space of a few years.

I started out by offering my videography services for FREE to friends and family in order to build a portfolio of work.

But now there are online platforms where you can connect with paying clients from anywhere in the world.

Start with competitively low pricing and scale your prices as you get more experience and 5 star reviews.

Check out freelancing platforms like:

See what other freelancers are offering and create your own profile based around what you can offer, whether that be graphic design, content creation, photo retouching, website development, video editing... even basic admin tasks.

It's as simple as that!

I've been getting back into freelance video production coordination work over the last 6 months and it's been amazing to see how much can be done remotely now.

No longer do I have to go to a production office. It can all be done via emails, phone calls, zoom calls, which has allowed me to do the work amongst family life.

But essentially if you have a creative skill that primarily uses a computer, like photo or video editing, writing, graphic design, website design, (even general admin) you can actually work as a freelancer from where ever you choose.

I'll discuss ways to find clients online as well in future posts. Save this post for later, share with someone who will find this valuable. Drop a question in the comments.

The internet is littered with remnants of my creative ventures.

A Vimeo account full of wedding videos.

A blog about things to do in Sydney with a toddler & baby.

Videos and content about essential oils.

An Etsy store selling print-on-demand tee shirts.

Short docos about women in fashion startups circa 2013

They're not necessarily failures.

I've come to realize that one of my strengths but also what can get in my own way at times is my curiosity and drive to learn new things. I have a natural ability to self teach and figure stuff out. It actually brings me a lot of joy to explore new ideas.

But I'm also indecisive and get bored easily. I jump from one idea to another and can quickly become impatient and look for the next thing...

The one tool that has helped me identify what 'makes me, me' is astrology, specially natal astrology.

Yep... I taught myself how to read astrological birthcharts last year during lockdown and it probably saves me $$$$ in therapy.

( If you weren't having an existential crisis in 2020, what were you doing? 🤣)

I've learned some valuable things about how to lean into certain energies to be more productive and patient and how to accept parts of myself that would otherwise make me feel frustrated and stuck.

I was connecting with a friend earlier today over our shared fascination in astrology. Like many things, it was a bit of passing phase for me but it's honestly a great personal development tool to gain clarity and come back to when you're seeking guidance.

If it's your thing, you can find a guide to give you a reading. You don't need to read all the books & listen to all the podcasts like I did.

I did fleetingly consider offering readings myself but... my Gemini Sun in the 5th House traits kicked in and I was onto the next interesting topic. See also: flighty & indecisive.

I'm now very much committed to a long term vision and working towards a huge goal. And having a better understanding of myself has been instrumental in this.

Who else is a low key astrology geek?!

✨New Playroom Vibes ✨

We've been enjoying our new downstairs playroom, especially this little reading corner. 😍

It's kind of nice to have the bulk of the 'mess' in a dedicated space that we can just close the door on. 🙌🏻

It's basically just the downstairs part of the house; kind of an inclosed part of the garage. It smells a bit funky when it's been raining. 😂 But it leads out onto the backyard and there is so much space for activities.

Can you spot two things my talented friend has made as gifts for the girls?!

Over the last four years I've been exploring and searching for ways to use my creativity to make money in a really flexible way.

I used social media to grow my videography business 8 years ago, so I understand the potential of using the online space for marketing.

Once I became a mum, I wanted to find a way to earn money without working to a client's schedule or brief. So I could have more flexibility around family life.

It all started with exploring freelance writing and learning how to monetize a blog but it's lead to so many more possibilities.

I now feel called to share all that I've discovered along the way, to inspire and empower other creative people to think differently about work and money and time.

So here is 4 very general idea for how to creatively earn an income by leveraging the online space.

Basically it comes down to having something to sell or offer.

1. You can sell your skills and services as a digital freelancer.

2. You can sell your knowledge and expertise as a coach, mentor or author.

3. You can sell a product that you've created, whether it's a physical product or a digital product.

4. You can sell a product that someone else has created.

I'll go into a lot more detail about each of these topics in future posts.

Let me know if you've ever considered this way of business.

Moving house always is a huge pain when it comes to the internet. And as it turns out we can't even connect the internet to the house 🤯

Something to do with the NBN / Telstra / Government - I won't get into it, it hurts my head 🤨

But the solution has been to hire a little freelancing deskspace at .chermside . Where I spend a few hours a day, being super productive.

This space is really fun and vibrant and it's kind of weird to be back in a 'work' environment.

Also today I had a 'google meet' with Pinterest. Like an actual conversation with someone who works for a social media platform... it's kind of unheard but I'm here for it. 10/10 for customer support from .

I even have my own Pinterest Account Manager. 😯 Excuse me while I geek out a little about this whole set up!

Am I going to do videography & photography again now that we are back in Brisbane?

A few people have asked this question and while I am opening up more to the idea of some basic video production and photography for clients, my attention is currently focused else where.

I've gone back to freelance video production work as it's been relatively easy to manage from home and I've also been working away at setting up 2 businesses that can be done all online - businesses that will eventually require less time to maintain, can be automated and can grow overtime.

Once they are thriving and making money in the background, who knows... I'll probably start over again because I'm actually loving this mix of creativity and business.

20/05/2021

Who's ready for an update?!

I've been super quiet on here but also hard at work, launching my e-commerce business.

I've been deliberating about whether or not to even mention it, to keep it very separate but, I'm actually pretty proud of myself to have gotten this far.

In mid 2019, I started an e-course in e-commerce, specifically - how to sell on Amazon in the USA.

A YouTube ad caught my attention one night while searching 'how to monetize a YouTube Video' and, well here I am, nearly two years later, having just gone live and made my first sale.

What attracted me to this style of business was the ability to combine my creativity and my business sense plus the fact that I could do it all from home, from my computer, at anytime of day.

I don't actually have to fulfill any of the orders. Infact, all the products are scattered across the United States of America, sitting in fulfillment centers, ready to be dispatched. I haven't even touched them except for the original samples that I photographed.

But I have had to learn so much along the way. Everything from researching and sourcing products, international freight forwarding, US customs, branding, copywriting, setting up Amazon listings, building a Shopify website, trademarks, third party fulfillment and now I'm really diving deep into paid social media ads.

Would I recommend it to others?

Well, I've come to realize that launching a private label Amazon FBA / Shopify business in the US is like tackling the Mount Everest of e-commerce ventures. And I've only just arrived at base camp.
There is still a long way to go before I can claim any real glory.

But along this journey, I have discovered so many other online business ideas that I would recommend acclimatizing on first. Ones that come with less risk but ultimately a similar outcome to what you'd get from tackling Mount Everest.

I have so many ideas and I really do get excited by all the possibilities that are out there.

I'm going to share a lot more of what I have discovered for myself here on social media and start coaching others to achieve similar results - the ultimate outcome being an online business that generates a second stream of income which is largely automated.

Why? Because time is our greatest assets and an online business that can generate an automated income is one way to create more time freedom in your life. So you can stop earning money and live a life where you just need to managing your money.

If this sounds like something you'd be interested in, let me know. I'd love to know what specifically information would help you get started.
