6/6...”Art is the only way to run away without leaving home.” Twyla Tharp. This striking textile, named “Street Art Diptych” is by young French artist, Charles Pringuay. His energetic artworks blend Street Art with underground culture. Love how something so edgy (a canvas artwork) is used to upholster a traditional armchair, introducing contemporary (KINETICALLY inspired) art to your home. Available from:

5/6...”Creativity is a wild mind and a disciplined eye.” Dorothy Parker. Door architraves are practical but they’re generally geometric and pretty aesthetically forgettable. wouldn’t you agree? However, occasionally you’ll strike those which are handsome and imposing, finished with pediments and entablature. But then there are these anomalies - unusual, curvaceous, residential portals. Free-form architraves, painted in a contrasting hue, evoke joy & playfulness and I’m now a sucker for architrave art 💙. A design element not to be overlooked in your home. It can make all the difference. 📸:

4/6...This work, ‘The Red Sky,’ (yes, I know this section is blue!) by Louise Joséphine Bourgeois, a French-American artist, is from the final years of the artist’s life: one of six multi-panel works on paper, created between 2007 and 2009. Although she is best known for her large-scale sculpture and installation art, particularly the “Spider”, Bourgeois was also a prolific painter and printmaker. This work demonstrates her ability to capture the balance of kinetic freedom with the restraint of palette, creating what I regard as perfect harmony. Don’t you agree? Image:

"It's a simple form, an endless loop that questions the passage of time and spirituality. The totality is not seen at one glance. We see the installation reappear outside and by visiting the different places, we can make the link between its six elements.”
Interview by Rainer Gross given to the newspaper La Nouvelle République.

1/6...The KINETIC energy of an object is the energy that it possesses due to its motion. Flowing lines, organic shapes, squiggles, curves & loops, and free forms. These are some of the most breathtakingly beautiful design elements. Stay tuned for some kinetic inspiration ahead....

6/6...The waxflower shrub (Chamelaucium) has delicate, pretty and sweet smelling blooms. What’s more, they’re long lasting. They belong to the myrtle family and have flowers similar to those of the tea-trees. They make the perfect addition to gardens, homes and bouquets. *Tip - they’re fantastic for home staging (as is eucalyptus)!

1/6...Depending on where you live, it’s springtime or it’s fall. As the seasons change, so does the foliage surrounding us, in our gardens, our streets and our parks and forests - even in our homes. Australian foliage is unique. It’s also hardy. Some species have European origin & some are native. Let’s explore some of my favourites - photographed, painted and sketched.

6/6...It’s very rare that a retail chain gets me excited and warms my heart. is the exception. It’s a creative collective for smaller, international designers specialising in everything beautiful, from fashion to homewares. I just wish we had it in Australia!! Until then, we shall have to make do with their online boutique!

If you love colour, then their Instagram is a must - better than any antidepressant - guaranteed.

Have you ever seen anything like this blossoming, red tree amongst the beautiful homes of Notting Hill? Spectacular! ❤️😍🌹

5/6...Hermes dinnerware. It’s been on my crush list for years, so I know it’s not just a fad. Yes, this red range is distinctive & striking but it’s undoubtedly timeless.

The extensive, ‘Balcon du Guadalquivir’ collection features graphic, bold lines reminiscent of the ironwork of Andalusian towns.

It’s a big call, but I’d take this over a Birkin, any day. 👜 ❤️

4/6...Throughout the centuries, many iconic interiors of the Middle East and Orient consisted of a palette of saturated red (& gold). Red has connotations of wealth and luxury and represents a richness of culture. The ambience of these exotic spaces is distinctly lavish.

Here, at the luxury golf resort & spa in Southern Spain, , fabrics including wall upholstery, tapestries, cushions & rugs in various shades of red, are combined with wrought iron, pottery and lanterns to create a space which is warm, plush and layered.

📷: *Tip - check out the resort’s page to view some other amazing Andalusian designs.

3/6...Many find the colour, RED, too intense and just too much of a commitment. If this is you, don’t shy away from it altogether. Just use it sparingly, like they have here.

Red is a very effective colour in highlighting your most prized objects and collections by drawing your eye to to them. Think of it this way: using red on your bookcase kills two birds with one stone - it creates a functional display unit that is also a work of art.

As the bold, feature colour on the backing of a shelving unit, you can control the amount of colour visible. Stack shelves with either fewer objects to reveal more colour, or stack more objects to conceal colour.

2/6...Lady in red. Not an easy colour to wear but this beautiful woman has it in the bag. The strong yet cool hue of red is complemented by the feminine design of the blouse - soft folds and delicate bows - not to mention her perfectly matching lipstick. So polished & so elegant. ❤️ Image:
