Volunteer Opportunities with Queensland Wheelchair Rugby League

Do you have a passion for Rugby League and a desire to make a meaningful impact on people's lives? Join our team at Queensland Wheelchair Rugby League (QWRL) as a volunteer! We are seeking enthusiastic individuals to support our network across various sub-branches in different roles. Whether you're experienced or just eager to learn, there's a place for you in our community.

Sports Trainers
First Aid Officers

By volunteering with us, you'll have the chance to support an inclusive sport, meet new people, and contribute to a positive community environment. Training and support will be provided for all roles.

Captains, captains, everywhere! This morning Chris and Anthony were joined by a veritable galaxy of Brisbane Reclink Community Cup stars - Umpire Alexis Pink, Bribane Lines captains Mary Youels and Kyle Pollard, and Rocking Horses captains Emma Walton and Ross McMahon.
They lit up 4ZZZ Towers (as stars do), getting us off to a cracking start discussing the coming game, and even joined in with some Ballzzz in the Air worthy punning!
Studios 1 and 2 echoed with the joy of local sport - and some great tunes.

This time-honoured tradition will see Chris and Anthony joined by a quartet of captains who will feature in the big Comm Cup clash. That’s right - for the first time EVER, we will have ALL FOUR Captains on hand to give you their hot take on the match! Next weekend (28th July to be precise) will see the staging of one of the highlights of Brisbane’s sporting calendar – the 2024 Brisbane Reclink Community Cup. Whichever way you wish to view it – musicians v media or Rocking Horses v Brisbane Lines - it is a fun day for a great cause.
With the big match literally only a week and a bit away, it is once again time for the traditional Ballzzz in the Air Reclink Community Cup Captains Run!
This time-honoured tradition will see Chris and Anthony joined by a quartet of captains who will feature in the big Comm Cup clash. The Ballzzz in the Air research team were out and about over the weekend, and got to catch a stirring Queensland victory in the 2024 Wheelchair Rugby League State Challenge. Both squads gave their all, and put on a fantastic show for the fans. Four in a row for Queensland Wheelchair Rugby League! Played hard, played fair, kept those Ballzzz in the Air!

The umpires conferred, and they do not even need to refer to the audio ref in the 4ZZZ bunker! This morning’s instalment of Ballzzz in the Air was a cracker.
Olympic Hockey Umpires Aleisha Neumann and Steve Rogers got us off to a flying start with a great chat about officiating at the top echelons of Hockey, before Chris and Anthony raced on to discuss Rugby League, Wheelchair Rugby League, Hockey, Athletics, Speedway – and even slid in a little Curling news!

Hot on the heels of breaking her Australian Record in the 1500m, Jessica Hull is rewriting the record books AGAIN!

IT'S JESS HULL'S WORLD 🌏🌏🌏

It's HISTORY for Australia's Jessica Hull who adds WORLD RECORD holder to her illustrious resume, racing to 2000m victory at the Monaco Diamond League in 5:19.70 to eclipse Francine Niyonsaba's 5:21.56 former mark.

Ballzzz in the Air was really pumping up the 4ZZZ sports jam this morning. Studio #2 looked like one of those classic “before and after” exercise promos, with Chris and Anthony expertly playing the “before” models next to our pair or powerfully built guests CrossFit athlete (and WORLD FINALIST) Adrienne Geary of Team CrossFit EXF, and CrossFit athlete (and WORLD MASTERS SEMI FINALIST) Thomas Rowen of TTB Fitness.
To the credit of Ballzzz in the Air fitness co-ordinator Thomas of TTB Fitness, Chris and Anthony barely raised a sweat as they powered through the required routine, then pushed on to news from the worlds of local Cricket, Rugby League, Curling, Hockey, and Speedway, followed by an international coulis of Basketball and Competitive Hotdog Eating.
Talk about a team with a range of skills – we even had some banging tunes to inspire the morning’s sports workout. If you want to be “well fit” like Chris and Anthony, slip a few of these bangers into your exercise soundtrack:
