When we walk into a beautifully staged home, like this one, we always know the end result is going to be amazing. In our experience, it certainly pays to invest a little in a few extra throw cushions, a throw rug on the end of a bed or some small decor items, such as plants or books. If you don't have the know-how or the time, paying a stylist can definitely pay off, especially if you are chasing a high price for your property. Dan is like a kid in a candy store when he gets an enquiry to photograph pools and landscaping...especially when they're for awards! He's passionate about getting the lighting and angles right, so that the pool stands out and is the feature of the images. Here's 3 tips to ensure you capture the pool in its best light:

1. Take the pool cleaner out! No, we don't mean ask Fernando the pool guy on a date, we mean take the pool cleaner out of the pool. Do it the day before so that you don't get wet marks on the tile around the pool for the photos.
2. Check the surrounding gardens and landscaping for dead leaves or twigs. Do this when you take out the pool cleaner, that way you only have to do a quick check when you arrive for photos.
3. Make sure your pool lights work! There's nothing worse than setting up the perfect shot as the sun goes down at dusk, only to turn the lights on...and the lights don't come on. And if you have two pool lights, make sure they have the same colour bulb.

And here's a 4th tip, just as an added bonus: Make sure you get your work photographed! If you build pools or create landscaping, you are creating your product gallery every day. Your clients can only make a decision about whether to work with you to build the pool of their dreams if they can see that you can create it. Sometimes, to get the best shot of a property, we need to send the drone up. The drone was used for the majority of the marketing images for this large commercial site, because of the sheer size of it. The use of drone has changed the way properties can be marketed, by incorporating 'location' shots to show it's position in the surrounding community and images that capture the boundary, even when it's a large scale property like this one.

What a privilege it was for Dan to photograph our friend's stunning property, Glen Lea Homestead. As one of Adelaide Hills' most historic properties, it exudes charm and beauty, even in the depths of winter when nothing is in bloom. The property is home to immaculate gardens, meticulously maintained by Jason and an authentic Old Shearing Shed, crafted from century-old red-gum timbers. The 1880-built homestead boasts vine-draped eaves, offering a picturesque backdrop for wedding ceremonies.

With its seamless integration of indoor and outdoor spaces, the property showcases the best of Queensland's lifestyle. Virtually staging a property is a big time and money saver, especially if you have to get it on the market quickly. It's good value for money, as the turnaround is only a couple of days and this means the property is on the market sooner rather than later. Because not everyone can visualise a furnished room when it's empty, virtual furniture helps to give scale and feeling to a room that is otherwise lifeless. And the best part? The property doesn't have to be empty for us to be able to stage it virtually, we can photograph it as is, remove what's there and replace it with stylish decor.

This luxe new fitout for Event Cinemas Chermside is such a vibe! Dan had early access to the brand spanking Gold Class cinemas (and the fancy new movie seats - swipe to see them!) to capture them in all their glam. The arches and spectacular lighting have been executed beautifully and the combination of different textures is always pleasing to the eyes and gives a luxurious feel.

These images taken by Daniel, were part of a collection captured for Rixon Hair for the Hair Expo 2018 awards. Brad and Sharon were crowned Best Salon Design, for the stunning space they brought to life in the Heritage listed building, on Edward Street in Brisbane City.

With the exposed brick and earthy textures, the high-end luxe vibe gives New York, it gives pared back and soft industrial. The pink hue to the floor covering is both delightful and calming in its tone and elevates an already chic feel, the moment you step out of the elevator.

They're coming up to their sixth year in their salon now, but the clock has no impact on this timeless fit out.

Still to this day, this is one of Dan's favourite shoots. He was given creative freedom to capture this beauty in all of her fancy newness.

We’ve got exciting news… We deliberated and tossed and turned and weren’t sure, however we figured it was time. Time to create a brand that reflects us, reflects the amazing clients we have the privilege of working with and reflects where we want to go. The word ‘Anki’ comes from one of the oldest languages in the world and means ‘universe’. Being such a big believer in big magic (see @elizabeth_gilbert_writer’s book), we strongly believe that ideas come through us from the universe, to be brought to life. We want to be that go to creative agency for clients to be able to bring those ideas to life and walk with them, supporting them on their journey to success. ‘Anki’ is also a blend of our names, Dan & Kimmy, with the ‘Co’ being our amazing team that help us steer the ship to our big goals. While we know we’re on this entrepreneurial rollercoaster, we’re strapped in and ready to send it to the moon. Are you ready to come with us?
