👋 Introducing your new RMC SA/NT Committee members... 👋

📷 1: Sharon Watt
Raised on a mixed farming property in Victoria’s Western District, Sharon has had an extensive and distinguished career in journalism, public relations and communications.

Sharon has worked at regional, rural and metropolitan newspapers, and was editor of Stock Journal before moving into public relations-communications as a rural-regional specialist. She is currently Hort Innovation's Industry Communications Manager.

Sharon is particularly keen to encourage and mentor the next generation of rural media and communications professionals.

📷 2: Paul Szentirmay
Paul has spent the best part of the past 20 years working in marketing and communications.

For the past 12 years, he has been the Managing Director of zentir, a creative communications agency based in Sydney. Despite running a business based in Sydney, Paul relocated to South Australia over 10 years ago.

In 2023, Paul has had the opportunity to spend more time in Adelaide, focusing on his farming and working on communications projects closer to home in South Australia.

He has a keen interest in agriculture, and runs Speckle Park cattle and a flock of Dorper sheep in the Adelaide Hills.

Please join us in welcoming Sharon and Paul!

👏 It's time for a couple of well-deserved shout outs! 👏

📷 1: Take a bow Drew Radford.

This legend is stepping aside from the RMC SA/NT Committee, and we want to thank him for a truckload of hard work over the past couple of years.

Drew is an accomplished reporter and broadcaster. He’s also a published author and documentary maker, who now runs his own company, PodTalk.

But to RMC SA/NT, he’s been our fix-it person. A wizard with a laptop, microphones and a big screen, he’s been responsible for making AVs seamless and professional at all our events.

Thanks again for all you have done on the Committee Drew... and you know we’ll still be calling for tech advice!

📷 2: We also extend a massive thanks to Alex Thomas, who stepped back from the Committee earlier this year to focus on other life and work projects.

Alex brought energy, passion for the rural sector and a deep knowledge of communications to her Committee role.

Her can-do attitude and enthusiasm will be missed, but we know we'll be reaping the benefits of her incredible contribution to RMC SA/NT for a very long time.

👏👏👏👏👏👏

⭐📖 RESILIENT WOMEN 📖⭐

Wool producer Kelly Dowling was the first female Wool Manager employed by Elders in Australia, before taking over her family's farm near Gunning, NSW.

Hear more about Kelly's story and other resilient, optimistic rural women like her, at the official launch of bestselling author Liz Harfull's new book 'A Farming Life: Tales of resilience from inspiring rural women.'

A Farming Life shares the uplifting true stories of Australian women from six rural families, as their resilience is tested by personal loss, illness, fractured relationships, natural disasters and the challenges that come with working in a traditionally male-dominated world.

The book showcases the passion, tenacity and resilience required to make a life on the land.

Skilfully woven together by Liz, the stories are heart warming and powerful examples of resilience in action at a time when many of us are searching for inspiration.

'A Farming Life' shares the uplifting stories of women from six rural families as their resilience is tested by personal loss, illness, fractured relationships, natural disasters and the challenges that come with working in a traditionally male dominated world.

Join us Friday 28 July 2023 for a lunch time event featuring the author and women featured in the book for a panel discussion.
