Did you know your website's photos are a hidden opportunity to attract more organic traffic? The secret is adding alt text - an essential piece of any SEO strategy.
Alt text is a description you add to your website images - it appears in place of an image on a webpage if the image fails to load on a user's screen.
This text helps screen-reading tools describe images to visually impaired readers and allows search engines to better crawl and rank your website.
Tips to write alt text:
• Describe the image, and be specific.
• Add context that relates to the topic of the page.
• Keep your alt text fewer than 125 characters.
• Don't start alt text with "picture of..." or "Image of..."
• Use your keywords, but sparingly - and not in every image on the same page.
• Images that are purely decorative or are described in text nearby, don’t need alt text.
