The show takes it's name from the book by Italo Calvino, comprised of a conversation between Kublai Khan and Marco Polo in which rhythmic, poetic, flourishing, detailed hallucinatory descriptions of the inner workings of cities are offered by Polo to Khan. ing the idea of cities being one and the same, though distinctly different, this is applied to music and we have a rough approach to the radio show. With a focus on music composed and created electronically, also casting a wide net out into the near and far history of many music styles and movements. Expect to hear anything from spaced out ambience to four-way hip shaking disco, synth workouts, percussive discussions, psychedelic journeys, dancefloor pleasures punctuated with the call and response of machines.
