We pose this question to all who are interested in participating in the 2011 Voixtronik remix contest. Two traditional Austrian Alpine folk music sound sample packs (instrumental and vocal/yodl) are provided to experiment with in an electronic form and to create something entirely new -namely Voixtronik. The Voixtronik remix contest offers innovative sound researchers and composers the possibility
to transfer selected traditional Alpine folk songs to the context of today's contemporary electronic music culture. The sample packs provided are recordings by the Tennkoglmusi and the Breinlinger family, who offer a taste of their own traditional Austrian Alpine folk music. The remixed tracks are sent to a selected panel of electronic, traditional Alpine and modern-contemporary music experts for evaluation. The three best of the two categories (vocal and instrumental) will be put to a final public vote on September 16, 2011 at the Voixtronik Festival in the Argekultur, Salzburg. The project aims to promote reflection and innovation through the experimentation of traditional music with modern electronic means.

- Chose from two music sample packs: vocal or instrumental.
- The choice of the sample pack determines the
category in which you participate in the contest. In other words, to submit a track in the “vocal” category, the vocal-sample pack must be used; likewise, to submit a track in the “instrumental” category, the instrumental-sample pack must be used.
- Both sample packs may be used, but the track may only be submitted to one of the two categories. Respectively, you can submit only one track per category.

Der Voixtronik Remix Contest startet in die zweite Runde
Was passiert, wenn traditionelle Volksmusik auf Elektronische Musik trifft? Wie lässt sich ein Jodler mit einer knackigen Baseline verheiraten? TB303 oder Zither und Hackbrett? Diese Frage stellen wir allen TeilnehmerInnen , die aus zwei traditionellen Volksmusik-Tonbeispielen - einem gesungenen Jodler und einem instrumentalen Volksmusikstück - auf elektronischem Wege experimentieren und etwas gänzlich ‚Neues’- nämlich Voixtronik - kreieren wollen. Der Voixtronik Remix Contest bietet jungen innovativen KlangforscherInnen die Möglichkeit, ausgewählte Volksmusikstücke in den Kontext der heutigen modernen elektronischen Musikkultur zu transferieren. Die Tennkoglmusi sowie der Familiengesang Breinlinger übernehmen den volksmusikalischen Teil. Die eingesandten Remixes werden einer ausgewählten Jury aus Fachleuten und den InterpretInnen des traditionellen Ausgangsmaterials zur Bewertung - unabhängig voneinander - zur Verfügung gestellt. Die jeweils drei Besten aus den beiden Kategorien vokal und instrumental werden zum öffentlichen Schlussvoting am 16. September 2011 in die Arge Kultur geladen. Betreut wird der Voixtronik Remix Contest von einem Projektteam, das Interessierte aus nah und fern zu dieser speziellen Form des Musizierens motivieren möchte. Unter der Patronanz des Salzburger VolksLiedWerkes sind dies : Haydeè Jimènez aus Mexiko, Thomas Haslinger, Martin Bauer, Barbara und Teresa Meikl aus Salzburg, die voll Begeisterung von der Erstellung der Homepage bis hin zur Gestaltung des Gewinnerabends in der Arge Kultur dieses Projekt umsetzen. Ziel des Projektes ist die Förderung einer intensiven Auseinandersetzung mit traditioneller Volksmusik. Die Aufgabe ist, überliefertes Gut mittels zeitgemäßer Technologien neu zu interpretieren.
