Future Memory Lab was a residency based in South America and dedicated to exploring artificial intelligence and ancestral techniques.
The project emerged from a collaboration between the Fundación Migliorisi (Paraguay) and Pyxis Exploration Numérique o (Switzerland). Now, the outcome of this research can be seen in the exhibition ‘Attunement’, at Pyxis.
Curated by Kira Xonorika, the exhibition brings together artists Lucila Quillahuaman (Peru), Lucas Lugarinho (Brazil), Mayeli Villalba (Paraguay), Nico Mi**da (Paraguay), as well as Gonzague Rebetez (Switzerland), and Ilknur Demirkoparan (Switzerland).
At the intersection of art, science, and technology, ‘Attunement’ examines how collective memory endures through technological mediums and the potential of artificial intelligence to redefine and expand artistic practices and traditional cultural forms. The works on display draw inspiration from ancestral practices, such as ceramics and ñandutí weaving, and are rooted in decolonial and postcolonial approaches as well as neuroscientific reflections.
