One of the key figures behind the visual language of Peruvian chicha, Monky Tolomeo Monky joins us in LA for Chicha Xperimental. 🔥

Since the early ’80s, Pedro Rojas Meza has been creating the hand painted posters that became inseparable from the chicha scene in Lima 🇵🇪, working with artists like Chacalón, Los Shapis, Alegría and Pintura Roja.

On October 22, Monky will bring that legacy into the present with a special artistic intervention at The Airliner Bar, alongside music from Alfredo Villar DJ Sabroso, 𝕿𝖗𝖎𝖇𝖎𝖑𝖎𝖓 𝕾𝖔𝖚𝖓𝖉 and 🪰 𝐋𝐗𝐒 𝐂𝐎𝐂𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐗𝐒 🪰, plus Alfredo Villar’s “Neón Chicha” presentation.

Join us for a special one of a kind night of Peruvian chicha and beyond ⚡️ cumbia culture celebrated through music, art and revelry.

Chicha: Peru’s own cumbia, born in the migrant neighborhoods of 1980s Lima. 🇵🇪 Andean melodies and Colombian rhythms fused with psychedelic guitars, wrapped in a visual language of neon posters and playful typography that’s having a global revival right now.
