Tune in tomorrow, October 1 - 9-10 AM PST 📻 DJ Sabroso Alfredo Villar takes over Dublab

Alfredo Villar Lurquín, writer and art historian, becomes DJ Sabroso when the turntables and the dance floor demand it. For this mixtape he slowed down rare Amazonian and Andean tracks into something psychedelic, layered with scratches, surface noise and sci-fi vinyl effects. Embracing the error on purpose.

Then catch him live:

Humazapas features on “Adiós,” from El Búho’s new album Hogar, alongside MafiAndinA 🌾

The track tells the story of movement, environment, politics and migration, all interconnected.

Built around a sample of “Adiós Mamita” by Humazapas, a song about rites of passage and leaving home, the track also brings in fellow Ecuador-based Kichwa rapper MafiAndinA. A cross-border collaboration that marries traditional Ecuadorian music, the Kichwa hip-hop scene, and El Búho’s deft electronic production.

Mafiandina’s vocals were even recorded inside Humazapas director Jesus Bonilla ANTA studio, in the Turuku community of Cotacachi.

The track and full album are available on all streaming platforms. Listen now. 🌵
