(BET) - Marlon Wayans was among the many stars who gained fame on the '90s sketch comedy series created by his older brother, Keenen Ivory Wayans.

During a recent appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s “Club Shay Shay,” Marlon spoke candidly about why he and his siblings decided to walk away from the iconic show and their little-known silent protest.

Marlon reflected on the troubled exit: “I remember when we left ‘In Living Color’ because Fox was syndicating the show and it was hurting Keenen’s pockets. Keenen was like, ‘Nah, you ain’t gonna do this to me.’ My family said, ‘F—k this money.’ And we all left ‘In Living Color,’” Marlon recounted.

“We’re going, ‘You ain’t gonna f—k my brother. We’re a family. You touch one, you touch all,’” Marlon declared. “We’re going, ‘You ain’t gonna f—k my brother. We’re a family. You touch one, you touch all,’” Marlon declared.

Struggles over creative differences and syndication rights ultimately led the “Scary Movie” director to leave the show following the protest episode.

Marlon said production offered everyone “big checks” to stay on the show, but he couldn’t do it. “I’m still a brother after this. No, I’m gonna support my brother,” he shared. “And we all left the show. That’s why season five got weird.”

(CNN) - Anna “Delvey” Sorokin is not shying away from her controversial past as she readies to compete on the news season of “Dancing With the Stars.”

Sorokin was convicted in 2019 of grand larceny and other financial crimes after pretending to be a German heiress with a trust fund. She served two-years in prison and an additional 18 months detained by immigration authorities for overstaying her visa.

Sorokin has recently been living under house arrest in New York with an ankle monitoring device while she appeals her deportation order. She told People she sought and received permission from US Immigration and Customs Enforcement to travel to Los Angeles where the show is produced.

Netflix dramatized her story for the popular 2022 series “Inventing Anna.”

(AP) — James Darren, a teen idol who helped ignite the 1960s surfing craze as a charismatic beach boy paired off with Sandra Dee in the hit film “Gidget,” died Monday at 88.

Darren died in his sleep at a Los Angeles hospital, his son Jim Moret told news outlets.

Moret told The Hollywood Reporter that Darren was supposed have had an aortic valve replacement but was too weak for the surgery. “I always thought he would pull through,” his son told the entertainment trade, “because he was so cool. He was always cool.”

In his long career, Darren acted, sang and built up a successful behind-the-scenes career as a television director, helming episodes of such well-known series as “Beverly Hills 90210” and “Melrose Place.” In the 1980s, he was Officer Jim Corrigan on the television cop show “T.J. Hooker.”

Darren married his first wife, Gloria, in 1955 and together had Moret, an “Inside Edition” correspondent and former CNN anchorman. After a divorce he married Evy Norlund, who came to the U.S. as the Danish entry in the Miss Universe contest. They had two sons, Christian and Anthony.

He was also the godfather of Nancy Sinatra's daughter A.J. Lambert. Sinatra, his “For Those Who Think Young” co-star, posted The Hollywood Reporter obituary on her X page, with a broken heart emoji.

(AP) - George Clooney and Brad Pitt returned to the Venice Film Festival on Sunday for the world premiere of “Wolfs.”

Before hitting the red carpet, the Hollywood stars reflected on reuniting, the rise of streaming and Clooney’s New York Times op-ed urging President Joe Biden to end his reelection bid.

Asked about the impact of his piece, Clooney said he’d not yet had to answer that question.

“The person who should be applauded is the president who did the most selfless thing anyone’s done since George Washington,” Clooney said. “All the machinations that got us there, none of that’s going to be remembered. And it shouldn’t be. What should be remembered is the selfless act.”

Clooney continued: “It’s very hard to let go of power. We know that. We’ve seen that all around the world. For someone to say, I think there’s a better way forward? All credit goes to him.”

Most of the discussion was focused on the film, however, an old school action thriller directed by Jon Watts, in which they play lone wolf fixers unhappy to have been hired for the same job to cover up a bloody mess involving a district attorney (played by Amy Ryan).

(Deadline) - Oscar nominee Barry Keoghan has joined the cast of Netflix’s highly anticipated Peaky Blinders feature. The Banshees of Inisherin and Saltburn actor is the latest high-profile name set opposite star Cillian Murphy in the Tom Harper-directed film. Last month, Deadline exclusively revealed that Rebecca Ferguson is also aboard.

Similar to Ferguson, details of Keoghan’s role are being kept under wraps.

As Deadline previously reported, Netflix greenlighted the Peaky feature in June with Oppenheimer Oscar winner Murphy in a return to the iconic role of Tommy Shelby, leader of the eponymous Birmingham gangster family.

(Hollywood Reporter) - She’s survived xenomorphs, busted ghosts, lived among the gorillas, and co-starred in the top-grossing blockbuster of all time — and soon she’ll have a Golden Lion. Screen icon Sigourney Weaver, whose stately grace and steely will have captivated filmgoers for nearly 50 years, will be awarded the Venice Film Festival‘s top honor for lifetime achievement at the event’s glamorous 81st opening ceremony.

Within the first five minutes of the sit-down, Weaver was brought to tears by a female journalist’s personal thank you for her pioneering performances as strong women characters — most notably, as the heroine Ripley in Ridley Scott’s sci-fi horror classic Alien — which shifted perceptions in the industry about the kinds of parts women could play and empowered female viewers everywhere

Asked whether she thinks her work might even have played a part in “mak[ing] it possible that a woman like Kamala Harris could become President of the United States,” Weaver said she “loved the question” because “we’re all so excited about Kamala, and to think for one moment that my work would have anything to do with her makes me very happy.”

“Because it’s true,” Weaver added, “I have so many women who come up and thank me.” Growing emotional, she paused and opened a bottle of water, joking that she needed her “vodka” to regain her composure.

(CNN) - Bruce Springsteen may be “born to run” but he won’t be running into retirement anytime soon.

The rock legend assured concertgoers during a concert in Philadelphia last week that he “ain’t going anywhere” and plans to continue touring in the foreseeable future.

“We’ve been around for 50 f**king years and we ain’t quitting,” Springsteen told the audience, according to footage from the concert posted to social media. “We ain’t doing no farewell tour bullsh*t. No farewell tour for the E Street Band.”

Springsteen went on to ask, “Farewell to what? Thousands of people screaming your name?”

“Yeah, I wanna quit that,” he said, wryly.

Springsteen has been plagued by ongoing health concerns that have resulted in several rescheduled concerts during the E Street Band’s world tour, which kicked off in February 2023.

(EW) - Curtis has proudly advocated for her progressive values for years. She has written op-eds in support of electing more women to public office, denounced right-wing attacks on members of the LGBTQ+ community, and thrown her support behind Democrats in state-wide elections.

Her passion for equity and inclusion isn't relegated only to the realm of politics, however. She advocates for those who can't as easily advocate for themselves on her own sets.

She explained how these convictions led to her championing the practice of crew members sporting name tags on her film sets. "On a movie set, if we were all working together, we would all be wearing name tags so that tomorrow when we came in, I would be able to then say ‘good morning [Sabine]’ without even [...] thought because I’ve learned her name."

Film sets are fast-paced, all-hands-on-deck environments where niceties can get lost in service of speed and efficiency. But to Curtis, being able to interact on a human to human basis across all levels of cast and crew isn't just a nicety, it's a basic foundation of respect.

(The Hollywood Reporter) - When the end of Yellowstone was officially announced last year, Paramount Network had set the wheels in motion for two more spinoffs. There was the prequel series, to be set in 1944, and then the present-day continuation, set to take place after the events of Yellowstone, which had the working title 2024.

Now, that sequel series is very much beginning to take shape.

That series will be titled The Madison and will star Michelle Pfeiffer, and it will be the next series to roll out in the Yellowstone universe. The Oscar-nominated movie star will also executive produce the new series from franchise boss Taylor Sheridan.
The Madison is described as a heartfelt study of grief and human connection following a New York City family in the Madison River valley of central Montana.

“Michelle Pfeiffer is a remarkable talent who imbues every role with emotional depth, authenticity and grace,” said Chris McCarthy, Paramount Global co-CEO and president/CEO, Showtime & MTV Entertainment Studios. “She is the perfect anchor to the newest chapter of the Yellowstone universe, The Madison, from the brilliant mind of Taylor Sheridan.”
