Weekly Challenge: I'm pushing myself to shoot and edit once a week! Each session is a chance to explore new techniques, experiment with different styles, and grow as a photographer.
*Shoot and Edit Tips - Always shoot in RAW format to retain the most detail, allowing for better post-processing control over exposure, colors, and sharpness.
Start by adjusting exposure and contrast, then boost vibrance for richer colors. Fine-tune shadows and highlights to recover details. Add clarity and sharpening for crispness, and use dodge and burn to create depth. Finish with a subtle vignette or color grading for a polished look.
*My Editing process to make my photo more dynamic:
1. Adjust Exposure & Contrast
Lightroom/Photoshop: Start by tweaking exposure to ensure your image is properly lit. Increase contrast to add depth and make the image pop.
2. Boost Vibrance & Saturation
Use the Vibrance slider to enhance the less-saturated colors without affecting skin tones. If needed, slightly increase Saturation for more vivid colors.
3. Play with Shadows & Highlights
Lower highlights to recover details in bright areas, and raise shadows to bring out details in darker sections. This adds balance and dimension to your image.
4. Sharpen & Add Clarity
Increase Clarity to enhance mid-tone contrast, giving the image a crisp look. Apply some Sharpening to emphasize fine details but avoid overdoing it.
5. Dodge & Burn (Local Adjustments)
Use the Dodge tool to brighten specific areas and the Burn tool to darken others. This technique adds depth and draws attention to key areas.
6. Vignette for Focus
Add a subtle vignette to darken the corners, guiding the viewer’s eye toward the center of the image.
7. Final Color Grading
Adjust the overall tone of your image with color grading. For a dynamic effect, give cool tones to the shadows and warm tones to the highlights for contrast.
This workflow will make your photos more dynamic, with greater depth and visual impact!
