This fascinating book was recommended by my latest guest – the wonderful Jessie Gubbins.

‘In These Girls, Hope is a Muscle,’ has resilience in every chapter, with each page telling a story of strength, courage, and the unwavering spirit of a group of incredible girls.

It’s no surprise to me that a woman as strong and powerful as Jessie chose a book that’s a celebration of empowerment and a testament to the incredible power that resides within every girl.

It’s a reminder that hope is not passive; it’s an active force that propels us forward. These stories inspire you to flex your own hope muscles, to face each day with resilience, and to believe in the strength that lies within. 📖💖✨

Sound the new guest klaxon!

Meet Jessie Gubbins, a dynamic force in the realm of fitness and coaching.

Her journey from a dedicated management consultant, traveling the world and working endless hours, to her current role as a fitness advocate is nothing short of inspiring.

Jess treats everyone she coaches as an athlete because she believes if you have a body, you are an athlete.

She wants us all to feel great about our bodies - hallelujah! Not only how they look, but also what they can do. Whether it’s carrying your groceries inside from the car in one trip, playing hide and seek with the kids, gardening without throwing out your back, or being able to stand up from the toilet unassisted when you’re 95.

The one thing that unites us as humans is that we have to live in our bodies. So why wouldn’t we want to make that body as capable and as athletic as possible?

Jess’s infectious warmth permeates everything she does, be it strolling with her sausage dogs (or wieners for my American audience) or sharing the highs and lows of life on social media. She’s always been open about her struggles with mental health and sobriety, and I loved talking to her about how to tackle the days when things don’t go as planned, and how to navigate the challenges that life throws us.

Her enthusiasm for life shines through in our conversation and you can feel her contagious energy.

Whether you’ve encountered her in person or are tuning into this podcast, get ready for a discussion full of authenticity, optimism, and practical advice. I hope you enjoy it.

If you asked me which book I like to give as a gift, this would always be a staple.

The Wisdom of Sundays by the legendary is a warm hug for your soul.

She’s curated profound insights from her acclaimed Sunday interviews (one of my favourite podcasts and always inspiring) and this book is a treasure trove from thought-provoking conversations with luminaries, thinkers, and spiritual leaders.

Each page resonates with the power of self-discovery, encouraging readers to explore the depths of their own souls. Oprah’s ability to extract timeless truths and universal lessons is nothing short of magical.

From mindfulness and gratitude to the importance of connection, ‘The Wisdom of Sundays’ is a guide to living a more purposeful and fulfilling life. It invites us to pause, reflect, and savor the beauty of the present moment.

The rich tapestry of narratives, coupled with Oprah’s insightful reflections, creates a reading experience that is both enlightening and heartwarming.

In a world filled with noise, this book is a sanctuary for the soul — a reminder that amidst the chaos, there exists a space for inner peace and profound understanding. A must-read for those seeking inspiration, connection, and a deeper understanding of the human experience. 📚✨

I watched .khalaf carry this book into work each day and I just had to know what was so special to make her keep it so close to her.

From the inimitable its a collection of daily devotions to centre your mind and to help your spiritual growth.

I was so delighted when Bana got me my very own copy - thank you so much hayati, it is one of the great joys in my life ❤️⚡️

Meet my new guest with a brilliant job title: is a Mind Hacker.

As one of the world’s top mindset therapists, healers and psychologists, she helps liberate people from deeply held blocks, negative beliefs, and trauma to live their most fulfilled life.

A trained psychologist who combines traditional practices with those of energy and healing, Hiba quit her corporate job to choose this new life path - as you might imagine she’s full of guts and chutzpah and she had me hooked from the first word.

We spoke about how the first seven years of our lives are crucial in setting the shape of the rest of our lives and how we can unpick that programming, how to stay connected to what’s important to us, and how to stay fulfilled if you work in the corporate world.

A self confessed growth addict, Hiba believes that if you’re not growing, you’re dying, and her energy and wisdom is so uplifting.

She believes that we create our reality, and after our conversation, I felt inspired to do go off and do the same. I hope you do too.

If you’ve met Isobel Abulhoul, you will know that she is a force of nature, a pioneer and a true inspiration. She is perhaps best known for literacy – she co-founded Magrudy’s, the book store chain (and a UAE institution!) in 1975.

In 2008, she founded the Arab World’s largest celebration of the written and spoken word. This beautiful event has gone on to win awards such as Best Festival, Best Family Day out and Favourite Festival – and I can testify that it’s an incredibly special space and the absolute highlight of my year, every year.

Isobel, who arrived in the UAE over 40 years ago, has been lauded with countless accolades including Cultural Personality of the Year by His Highness Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the Ruler of Sharjah and no less than an OBE by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth.

I loved our conversation and I know you will too.

New episode alert!

I had a great chat with Jad Toubayly from about business, creativity and what gets him out of bed in the morning.

He’s extremely modest when it comes to his business achievements - this is despite being in the Arabian Business 40 under 40 list and being on his eleventh business start up.

I’m curious about what drives hugely successful business people and Jad was honest and open about challenges and why gratitude and smiles are what makes him tick, more than a balance sheet.

I hope you enjoy our conversation.

From the very first day I started this podcast I knew that I wanted to explore the wisdom of animals and how our relationship with them can guide us and help us to grow.
⚡️
So my guest this episode is Kelly Eide from
⚡️
Kelly is a corporate strategist and a leadership coach who works with business leaders and CEO at the highest level. And she does this in an unusual way - she uses herds of healing horses.
⚡️
Kelly taught me so much about what these incredible and powerful creatures can teach us.
⚡️
Horses live in herds. They set and respect boundaries. They are authentic. And above all, they look out for one another. Was there ever a better time than now to tap into their power?
⚡️
My conversation with Kelly was nothing short of magical as she opened my eyes to accelerating our lives with horsepower.
⚡️
Please, enjoy her incredible experience and wisdom.

I read this book when I’d recently moved to Dubai. A new city, a new job. I’d left behind my brilliant life in Manchester and felt lost and full of fear.

It completely changed my life.

Yes it is about being courageous, but it’s so much more than that.
It teaches you acceptance, to take responsibility and to trust yourself.

An absolutely life affirming book that I still highly recommend.

If you’ve ever wondered why you have certain aches and pains, or why you can’t shake certain behaviours, this episode is for you.

My guest in this episode is Anna Mitchell - a kinesiologist.
If you’re wondering what kinesiology is don’t worry - I was a little hazy about this myself until I met with Anna.

In a nutshell, kinesiology is the science of human movement. It uses muscle testing to identify imbalances in the body's structural, chemical, and emotional make up. It can reduce stress and pain, improve performance at school, work and home, be beneficial in sports and relationships.

It’s simply a great tool to promote health and wellbeing.
Sounds brilliant, doesn’t it?

I had a fascinating chat with Anna as she explained more about how it works and how our body has each and every tool it needs to heal itself. We just need to listen to it.

New episode alert!
Last month I spoke to the wonderful Anna Mitchell from
She works with the physiological and the psychological so I was fascinated to learn more about how she sees the world and what we can do to help our bodies and minds.

I this episode I chatted to the gorgeous Fiona Day, an intuitive consultant and energy healer.

Fiona operates on a completely different level - in a different dimension in fact - so being in her presence and learning more about her amazing abilities was absolutely fascinating.

I arrived at her lovely home to be met by a dog, a cat, and a house rabbit (there may be a few miaows in the background!) and for an animal lover like me, this was pure heaven, and I knew we were going to get along.
Fiona is warm, open and her perspective on energy and how we can tune into our own intuition and feelings is eye opening.

When she isn’t working in Dubai she’s doing amazing, life-changing work in Nepal and one day, might just buy an island in the Maldives - something tells me she’ll have a willing tribe of people to follow her!

I hope you enjoy our conversation as much as I did.

Here’s a book that I’ve loved forever: How to Win Friends and Influence People, by Dale Carnegie.
The title may seem cynical but it is a magical book, full of positivity.
Be generous with praise, be genuinely interested in other people, make people feel important, acknowledge your own mistakes.
There’s a reason why so many great leaders swear by it and why there’s now a global training programmer based around it.
Highly recommend.

My guest in this episode was the wonderful counsellor and self-development coach, from

Helen is a guide and mentor, running courses and retreats that aim to nourish the souls of those who attend.

Spending time with Helen is always a pleasure. She has an energy and outlook that belies her 70 years and wisdom pours out of her.

We talked about travelling alone, why Helen loves to dance (I adored this!) and how she’s read New Earth by over 55 times!

Helen is so engaged with living and learning. Getting to understand more about her intentions and the passions that drive her was a true privilege.

I hope you enjoy the episode.

My guest for you in episode two was Reza Alavi, the founder of Real Pilates a Dubai business success story.
Reza turned his back on his conventional career to start the Real Pilates studio, and his journey from corporate life to wellness is a fascinating one.
Reza has an incredible energy, he is open, honest and candid. He shared the daily rituals that keep him grounded (hello Mantras!) and had so much advice about business and life.
For anyone who has ever dreamt of leaving the 9 to 5 grind and pursuing a passion, this conversation is for you. I hope you enjoy it.

Episode one went live in January!
My first guest was Clinical Psychologist from The LightHouse Arabia
From an early age, Dr Saliha knew that she wanted to change the world. What began as a desire to heal evolved into helping people to help themselves and today Dr Saliha leads The Lighthouse: a community mental health clinic based in Dubai.

I was so thrilled to sit with Dr Saliha in the beautiful space she’s created in the heart of Dubai. We talked about everything from therapy to work to parenting and religion.
She revealed that she’s deleted Instagram from her phone and how she stayed connected to love through divorce. Our chat was full of energy and joy and laughter. Absolutely loved it. I hope you do too.

Oh hi! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I'm Kelly, the founder of the podcast. I've always been fascinated by stories - when I was a little girl I was forever bashing out tales on my typewriter. Later, I trained as a journalist, as this seemed the best way to ask as many questions as I could each day.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Now I'm older and working in PR, I'm still endlessly curious about the world around me and in a time when we are trying to make sense of our surroundings and overwhelmed by news and technology, I've been craving connection and meaning. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A combination of this desire and my natural nosiness led me to create the podcast: conversations that explore the meaning and intention behind what we do, and how we can live a life full of purpose.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Good Intentions connects with experts and storytellers around social impact, psychology, mindfulness, personal growth, and health. Each conversation unpacks the beliefs and rituals that drive and ground each guest. ⠀⠀⠀⠀
