I will confess!

So there was one time I escorted someone who was to attend an interview around one place they call Business Bay in Dubai. So normally, for me once I go to a new place and can't locate an African restaurant around, I just buy normal beef or chicken Burgers with fries 🍟 and come chilled soft drink when am hungry.

So I come wait for this person ooo, luckily the Building has a Big waiting area and some cushions to sit and wait. I wait for am finish.
E come comot. So based on say na chatter we chatter the taxi from house, the taxi guy too come beg say make him run one or two things before we go begin come back house.

So this my person finish im interview Jeje, come out looking tense though based on say the interview tough somehow. We come deh wait for taxi. Hunger come catch us. I come tell this dude say make we go find burger 🍔 or shawarma chop. Him come insist say make we try new things na, lol. I no know wetin make me gree sha.

Omo, na so we walk into this Italian restaurant. Hmmm. Them give us menu. Everything weh deh there, I never chop am and e cost. I come see something weh resemble spaghetti with butter and some orishirishi on top, dont ask me the price sha. And the thing comes with some fries. I say make we order that one.

It took them about 10mins to prepare the meal, I come collect Coca-Cola na make I use am deh cool down before the main meal arrive.

My people. Them later bring the food oo, hmmm. This my guy couldn't eat the spag, lol. Me, I look this meal check the amount weh I go pay, I say lie lie, my money no go waste. Because I don work for restaurant before, any food weh customer no chop, na we deh chop am. Na so I force myself deh chop that food.
I no know who send the waiter make him come ask me whether I deh enjoy my food, lol maybe na because na we be the only Africans there.

I no go lie, I tell am say I no Sabi the food and am just trying it for the first time but sadly I don't think I will try it again. The guy laugh 😂😂 comot.

When it was time to pay, e deh do me like say them rob me. The money too much.
Hmmm, sometimes is just good to stick to what you know. If am gonna try something new like that, e go be when I don make am abeg so that even if I couldn't eat it, paying for it won't make me vex.

Until now I never forget that money weh I spend there

I came across this story, I love it and I decided to share it with you 👇

I had just spent an hour in the bank with my father, as he had to transfer some money. I couldn't resist asking:

"Dad, why don't we activate your internet banking?"

"Why would I do that?" he replied.

"Because then you wont have to spend an hour here for things like that transfer.

You can even do your shopping online. Everything will be so easy!"

I was so excited about introducing him to the exciting world of online banking.

He thought for a minute, then answered "If I do that, I wont have to step out of the house?"

"Yes, yes" I said. I told him how even grocery can be delivered to your front door now, and how Amazon delivers everything!

His answer left me speechless.

He replied "Since I entered this bank today, I have met four of my friends. And I have chatted for a while with the staff who know me very well by now.

You know that I am alone. This is the company that I need. I like to get ready and come to the bank. I have more than enough time, it is the physical touch that I crave.

Two years ago I got sick, The shop owner, where I buy my fruit, came to see me and sat by my bedside and cried.

When your mum fell down few days ago during her morning walk, our local grocer saw her and immediately brought his car to rush her home, as he knows where I live.

Would I have that 'human' touch if everything became online?

Why would I want everything delivered to me, forcing me to only interact with my computer?

I like to know the person I'm dealing with and not just the 'seller'. It creates bonds and relationships and keeps me active ,

Does Amazon deliver all this as well?"

Technology isn't life and if we let it life as it is now will be gone , stop saying you have no time to shop local because local to some is all thay have , so Spend time with people. Not with devices and online , a sunny day and a walk out is sometimes all the medicine you need ❤️

ALL LOVE goes to my parents today. They’ve now been together for 37 years. This was the proudest moment of my life. The day they saw me GRADUATE COLLEGE after going to 3 different universities in 4 and a half years. They were both born in NIGERIA...🇳🇬 My mother was born in Aba and is IGBO and my Father was born in Lagos and is also IGBO but speaks YORUBA as well. They immigrated to St, John’s, Newfoundland, Canada 🇨🇦 34 Years ago and the rest is history. Anyone who has Nigerian parents or just African parents, or just immigrant parents in general knows the expectation they have for their children is very high especially educational wise and occupational wise. My parents were never excited with my initial decisions to play basketball and then make music but left me alone once they saw how focused I was and that I wasn’t going to quit. In African culture it’s the child’s responsibility to repay their parents for bringing you into this world. We come in, they take care of us, and as they get older we take care of them. NO QUESTIONS ASKED. That’s always been one of my BIGGEST motivations everyday I wake up and I plan to continue to voice that as a priority for the youth coming up in this generation. It’s the circle of life. What they gave me wasn’t a dollar amount and I’m happy and appreciate the struggle and tough times we went through growing up. They set an example of how to work hard and expect nothing from anyone. Tough times create strong people. Thank you mom and dad for your sacrifices. I love you. And shoutout to all the parents in the world. The YOUTH are the FUTURE and it’s going to be harder than ever in this social media generation to lead them in the right direction.
