Our Founder and Executive Editor Sabin Muzaffar participating at the Writing Symposium: panel titled AI, publlishing and storytelling chaired by
Sabin's panel delved into the challenges posed by the elephant in the room: AI. She spoke about the importance of being early adapters and adopters, understanding emerging tech as tools not nemesis; but at the same time pointing out challenges including algorithmic bias, who is feeding AI what data.. how to appropriate AI. She also shared thoughts about the monopoly of big tech ... owned by white men, strategically located in imperialist/capitalist regions, and about creating a tech world developed by stakeholders in the Global South.
There was one question about what creativity is... and Sabin spoke about "How we always talk about creativity from man's or human perspective. Isn't it high time to have a different perspective. Human perspective has led to polarization, Climate change and what have you. Creativity can be seen in a spider's web as well... so moving away from man's assumption of being the center of the universe."
