Six Senses Southern Dunes, The Red Sea, Saudi.

Design and construction by .lab

The level of consideration and care in this project is so touching we asked .lab to share their cultural and historical expertise for an upcoming article for CID.

From translating ancient pattern and textiles from the region to the artisanal stitching on a cushion, .lab helps to preserve cultural heritage, helping to keep local craftspeople thriving.

Raw beauty crafted from carved wood, stone, marble and leather envelop a neutral base palette. Cooling earth toned plaster walls are adorned with handcrafted Arabic bronze ironmongery, while a rolling dune of fabric overhangs the bed inspired by Bedouin tents.

A place to simply be.

Saville Row; housing England’s legendary fine tailoring firms is #23, a multi-level commercial workspace etched into this 400 year old street.

Housing financial, real estate and investment firms embraces the London fog in this quiet, elegant, beautifully-gloomy, monochrome masterpiece.

The design pays homage to the mid-19th-century arcade found nearby in Burlington Arcade, balancing it with a contemporary asymmetric take on the arcade style.

Think, oak-panelling, marble-topped bars, halo lighting, muted tones, corrugated concrete, cast bronze sculpture and a five-metre high glass brick wall.

Designed by H2R Design and founded by brothers Hasan and Husain Roomi this sleek, urban steakhouse uses wood, steel and marble to conceptualise a butchers shop on a neon-lit, Tokyo street, circa 1997.

was tasked with reimagining the interiors for Santa in Mallorca, Spain. Breathing new life into the historic building, the firm’s design concept drew inspiration from four pillars: heritage, post-luxury, slow design, and layers.

Founded in 2014 by Ignacio Jiménez and Carmen Cordón, the co-founders of , Posada Terra Santa can be found in the heart of Palma de Mallorca inside a historical building that dates back to 1576 when the town served as an epicentre of commerce and trade on the popular Mediterranean island. has announced that globally renowned designer will be the opening keynote speaker at The Forum ahead of the Dubai Design Week 2024 anchor event, which runs November 6-9.

Mahdavi is set to share her insights on multicultural design and the fusion of identities in contemporary space during her opening keynote, while other prominent figures on the global scene, including Eames Dimitrious and Lina Ghotmeh, are among the impressive line-up of speakers.

This year’s edition of Downtown Design will also mark the long-awaited online launch of in the UAE, presented in the region by Dhow Architectural Solutions Group.
